Lingerie parties and Lingerie sales

May 19, 2007 by Tricia

Oh oh! I got an email earlier from my niece and she’s having a lingerie party! She’s holding it at the end of May. That could be interesting!

Thinking about lingerie parties just reminded me that for a very short time I once sold lingerie! It was sometime just before I started working as a nurse. I might even have still been in school at the time. I attended a lingerie party that was being held at a friends and some how I ended up getting talked into selling the stuff myself!

It’s kind of like holding Avon or Tupperware parties. You have your samples and you get a friend to hold a party. You go ahead of time and set everything up. What a pain when you have at least two racks of clothing! Then once everyone arrives you do a little presentation and anyone interested checks out the clothing, tries it on and hopefully orders from you.

I did ok at this, but it was time consuming and I felt like I was using my friends. Plus, you may not realize this about me, but I’m actually kind of shy in public. Especially when I’m around a lot of people that I don’t really know. I don’t think I’m as shy now as I used to be … I mean I’m a nurse – I’ve got to speak to strangers and ask them all kinds of personal details about themselves, and I do my darnedest to get a laugh or smile out of people and you can’t be too shy to do that! However, put me in a restaurant by myself to eat a meal or up on stage to give a speech and it’s not pretty!

Anyway, I don’t know if my niece is selling the lingerie or if she’s just holding the party. I wonder if I’ll end up ordering anything interesting?

It sounds the sort of party where a lots of laughs would take place!

I have been to this sort of party and it was great fun. To begin with everyone was a little quiet and not willing to try things, but after a few glasses of wine it soon developed in to a real hoot.
I hope you have a great time.

Ah, sounds interesting even though I seldom can buy the lingerie – I must have a very odd body shape… *giggles*

BTW: your main content is not showing up in the right place in IE, it’s pushed down.

(I just happened to see it because I have problems commenting on certain Blogger blogs with Firefox, so I’m forced to use IE sometimes… Arrrgh)

Back in the very early 90s I was an R.A. in my dorm and I was required to hold a certain number of social events per month. I always held one lingerie party per semester and it was always the most well attended dorm event on campus, especially after I began to allow them to be co-ed 😉 Plus, I racked in the hostess bucks.

I always wondered about parties like this, and you just explained how they work. I haven’t attended one, but was invited once. I cannot remember why I couldn’t go, I just remember really wanting to.

I know for a fact though, that I could not sell it. Pretty much for your reasons – a bit too shy for that.
    Love your blog Tricia!

I love these parties! Hosting or attending one with your closest friends is a great way to catch up and enjoy a few glasses of wine together. If the product is good, then is a great, comfortable environment in which to buy lingerie. We got a lady to come a fit us all correctly as well which was really handy.

The only downside to lingerie parties is that I usually go home broke after it 🙁 I simply loooooove sexy lingerie! There’s not a better feeling for a woman to know that she is wanted or desired 😉 I love feeling sexy!
