A perfect Spring weekend

April 24, 2009 by Tricia

It’s going to be a beautiful weekend here in Toronto. Already it’s 19 Celsius (66 F) outside, and tomorrow the temperature is supposed to reach 26 Celsius (79 F) or more!

Other than Chris going to the Nuance progressive rock concert on Sunday at the Black Swan (he wrote about it on his blog if you’re in the area and want to learn more) we don’t have any specific plans for the weekend, but I think we’ll probably be spending quite a bit of time outside enjoying the nice weather. Perhaps we’ll have a barbecue tonight.

I have some bulbs that I want to plant (Crocosmia) and a few other things that I need to do in the garden such as prune some of the roses. Tomorrow will be the perfect day for doing that kind of work. maybe we’ll even have some time to take our dog, Midnight to Cherry beach or to Taylor Creek park for a run off leash. She’d love it.

Is the weather going to be nice in your area this weekend? Any plans? A trip to the cottage or maybe the Outer Banks or perhaps just staying in the city and doing some yard work like we plan to do?

I’m a little late but future weekend in Poland is going to be beautiful – 25 oC and sunny – forecasts are great. It’s a long weekend because of the 1st of May. On Saturday I’m going to canoeing rally – first time in my life but I already know it will be gorgeous.

Our grarden is just stating to come in to color and it is looking fantastic the wet but relatively mild weather has really help this year. Although the daffodils were late. Looking forward to the tulip festival very soon.

I live in a condo but do have a little spot in the common area that I try to plant flowers in every year. Like you, I haven’t worked on it for the last 2 years. The 1st year I broke my foot in April so that put my working in the garden off for a year. Last year I took care of my dad from Feb. – May when he passed so last year was out too. Plus I have rods in my back now and bending is a little hard to do. But, I will have my garden this year and need suggestions on plants that will require very little care. I have a source for water close by but not the ability to do much weeding. I did have pine needles put down for the last 2 years so there aren’t many weeds to pull. Any ideas. I would love to have some really pretty color.
    Thanks
    Martha

Nothing beats the arrival of spring, right? I’m just excited to get my car clean inside and out. That’s my big goal for the weekend.
