It seems that I’m continuing to lose weight. I’ve been on my new migraine medication for about 6 weeks now and I’ve lost 15 pounds!
Isn’t that crazy?
I’m amazed at how fast I’m losing weight.
The migraine medication has all kinds of weird side effects – just scroll through a few of my posts from the last 6 weeks and you’ll see what I mean, and one of them seems to be loss of appetite and weight loss.
I certainly don’t have total loss of appetite, but I guess you could call it appétit control . I’m not hungry between meals at all and I’m eating less than I used to. I never ate all that much to begin with, but I’ve noticed that when I put food on my plate the portions are smaller than they used to be.
Also … because the migraine medication causes taste perversion I can’t drink soft drinks anymore and quite a few other foods taste different, weird or just not as good as they used to taste. I only used to drink one pop a day, but I guess not drinking that one pop is making a difference.
Anyway … those 15 pounds I’ve lost … I’ve gone down two pant sizes. Good thing I kept a lot of my older clothes! I’m also going to need to get some new bras. Right now I have the straps and band tightened up as much as possible and they’re still lose. That’s not where I wanted to lose weight. LOL
Apparently the weight loss effects of the migraine medication that I’m taking only lasts a few months. I don’t really have a lot of weight to lose so I’m hoping it slows down soon … and maybe by the time it does I’ll be at the right weight for my body type.

Dude – no migraines AND weight loss??? I’d be in heaven! I was ‘just’ about to complain on Facebook that I have another migraine and I’m so bummed – I really need to get some work done, but, all I feel like doing is lying down! Argh!

Although for mus of us – gals – weight loss sounds great, in this case i would run to my doctor. Too much of something is always bad. Hope everything turns fine!

As always, the weight loss could just be a coincidence. But if you’re not drinking soda’s anymore and it’s just a lack of overt hunger, then maybe it’s a good side effect. You may just want to check with your doc to make sure – couldn’t hurt right?
I was reading a blog by a doctor who hates bread. Something about how they breakdown in your system, anyway, I stopped eating bread for 2 weeks just to see what would happen. I lost 5 pounds and an inch around my belly. Crazy isn’t it?
I hope your migraines stay away. I know they can be… troublesome, for lack of a better word.

I had migraines so bad when i was pregnant that I ended up in the ER. The really scary part was I had no idea that they were in fact migraines until I saw a neurologist and ended up getting one in his office. I had lose of speech, just a mumble no matter how hard I tried to speak. I also couldn’t recall things like my name, phone number or simple things like that. Keep in mind I was pregnant so testing was out. I thought for sure something was terribly wrong with me and here I am about to bring a new baby into the world. Good thing I was able to get it figured out for the most part anyways, I was unable to take medicine though because of the baby. I was told that it was all due to my hormones and just had to live through it. Once I gave birth they disappeared and haven’t had one since. I could go for some of that weight loss you are experiencing especially after having a baby!
