Matt Lauer defends Tom Cruise

Today host Matt Lauer, who publicly sparred with Cruise last year over the use of anti-depressant drugs, has come to Tom Cruise’s defense Wednesday morning.

Lauer stated on his show that “Maybe he speaks out about Scientology and some people don’t like that, but what about the stars who are in and out of rehab every week? Is that any worse? And yet you find movie companies still in business with them.” Cruise, at the time of his argument with Lauer had called Lauer Glib.

Mel Gibson pleads no contest

Mel Gibson agreed to plea a deal following his drunk driving arrest and avoid spending time in jail.

The movie star’s lawyer confirmed that he hashed out a deal with prosecutors for the drunk driving case and now Gibson will be placed on probation for three years.

Gibson will be required to attend a full year of Alcoholics Anonymous meetings as per terms of the deal. He also must pay a fine of 1,200. Mel has volunteered to record a public service announcement on the hazards of driving while drunk and to enter a rehab facility right away.

Gibson had been found to had a blood alcohol level of 0.08 when he was arrested on July 28th after leaving Malibu bar Moonshadows, however the count of driving under the influence was dismissed as was a charge of driving with an open container of alcohol.

Axl Rose

Axl rose paid a surprise visit to patients at the teenage Cancer Trust Ward located at the University College Hospital in London.

The director of the Teenage Cancer Trust Ward, Simon Davies says “We were so touched that Axl wanted to visit the Teenage Cancer Trust ward in London. Axl spent time speaking with each of the patients individually asking about their diagnosis and treatment, and what they enjoyed doing when they were not in hospital. “Speaking with patients after Axl’s visit, I got a real sense of just how excited they were to have met him and how much it lifted their spirits.”

Axl Rose spent time talking to patients after wrapping up his Guns N’ Roses European tour at the British capitals Wembley Arena last Sunday.
