Kevin Federline headed to Las Vegas last weekend with the kids, as his estranged wife, Britney Spears, continues to stay on in rehab.

Kevin went to Los Vegas for a paid appearance at the Mirage hotel & Casino lounge Revolution.

“Kevin was really low key,” one source says. “You could definitely tell he was on his best behavior. He was having a good time, but wasn’t the wild, crazy Kevin who used to come to Vegas.”

When Federline arrived in the city with his two boys – Sean Preston, 18 months, and baby Jayden James, 6 months, he was accompanied by a nanny, his mother and brother, as well as two bodyguards.

He was late for dinner with friends and family at the hotel’s Japonais Restaurant because he wanted to tuck his kids into bed. However, by midnight he was seen relaxing at the VIP table at the Revolution with a group of friends which included comedian Jeff Beacher.

Federline’s ordeal with Spears rehab has helped to mature him. A source is quoted as saying “He wakes up with a purpose each morning and has enjoyed his family being around him”.

The Britney Spears rehab saga

spears_federline2_180.jpg So why did Britney Spears check into rehab only to leave twice, then finally check her self back in last week? Turns out that she got an ultimatum from Kevin Federline.

Federline was upset by the news that Spears had checked out of Promises in Malibu last Wednesday, so he and his lawyer mark Vincent Kaplan scheduled an emergency hearing to seek physical and legal custody of his and Britney’s sons Sean Preston and Jayden James.

It’s said that Federline, 28, gave Britney a choice – either go back into Promises that night or Federline would go to court the following morning.

That evening, at about 7 pm, Spears showed up outside of Federlines home in Tarzana, California. She and her friend were follwowed by 20 paparazzi. Federline didn’t appear so she left.

A photographer followed her to a gas station. Britney was enraged that she’d been followed and she grabbed an umbrella and started to whack his SUV. Later that night Spears mother, Lynne, took Britney to Promises. A friend of Federlines said “Britney scared everyone real bad.”

Last Friday Federline spent an hour visiting Britney at promises, the next evening her brought the boys to visit. Spears mother joined the group that day as well.

“Kevin is working closely with Lynne to let Britney know how serious it is that she gets help,” says one family friend. A source close to Federline notes that “Kevin loves Britney … nothing has changed about that.”

Right now the boys are “being taken care of by Kevin,” says a source. “Lynne is helping.” Eventually, says a Spears family friend, Federline, who will turn 29 this month, “would like Britneyto have the kids because he thinks she is a good mother.”

A typical stay at Promises is 45 days. Will Britney make it that long considering it’s her third try in a week? Spears’ Manager Larry Rudolph says that she’s not getting any special treatment at the rehab facility. “She has a regular room, a regular routine. She is doing exceptionally well.”

For the second time this week Britney Checked into Rehab. This times she’s at Promises in Malibu. It’s said that Federline has been involved in her stay there. K-Fed even stopped by the facility Friday and visited for about an hour and a half.

Spears’ Father, Jamie Spears, 54, Spoke with Fox News on Thursday from his home in Louisiana. He told the media that his daughter is “a sick little girl. … We’re just trying to take care of her.” He went on to add that is daughters problems are “not about what other people think” and that he and Spears’ mom, Lynne, are “concerned about our daughter.”

Britney’s manager, Larry Rudolph has said that reports of Spears being on a suicide watch are false.

“The story is absolutely untrue. She is in rehab, and it is very disappointing that various media outlets are running these false stories about her, as Britney tries to get better,” Rudolph said.

Meanwhile, Federline is anxious about his wife’s condition – and about the couple’s two sons.

“Britney scared everyone pretty bad. Kevin is worried that’s for sure, Kevin just wants her to be OK. He loves her, so however she can get better is just what we’ll have to accept. They will make it work with the kids – it’s all still for them.” Says a Federline source.
