Keith Urban has a back injury

keith_urban.jpg New dad Keith Urban has recently been diagnosed with a slipped disc in his back according to his publicist Paul Freundlich. There’s no word on what might have caused the injury (and in the case of backs sometimes it is unknown) but the injury apparently won’t affect his current touring schedule.

Keith himself mentioned his back problems to his fans at a concert in Konocti Harbor Resort and Spa in Kelseyville, CA on Saturday night.

Urban, 40, has been dividing his time between his North American tour dates and spending time in Australia with Nicile Kidman and their new baby daughter Sunday Rose. The baby is just 7 weeks old.

If you’re following Urbans tour dates he’s next set to perform at this weekends Country Rocks Festival in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, after that he’ll be in New York City at Columbus Circle for the NFL’s kickoff show on September 5th.

Luciano Pavarotti passed away

I think I’m still a little shocked by the sudden death of Luciano Pavarotti.

Pavarotti was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year, and at 5 a.m. local time on Thursday September 6th he passed away in his Modena, Italy home. His manager, Terri Robson had this to say -

“The Maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life. In fitting with the approach that characterized his life and work, he remained positive until finally succumbing to the last stages of his illness,” the statement said.

Pavarotti was arguably the most famous opera singer in the world for the past 35 years.

Nicoletta Mantovani, Luciano’s second wife, survives him, as does his three daughters by his first wife Adua. Pavarotti also had a daughter with Mantovani in 2003 who survives him as well.

Wayne Newton? Hmm that should be interesting.

The show returns on September 24th with a new format. When the show debuts it will air on three consecutive nights in it’s first week, and then in the remaining competition weeks the show will air on Monday and Tuesday nights.

I’m not really a fan of the show. Don’t hit me! It’s just never interested me. So, while you guys are watching the show I just hope that the regular shows that I want to watch aren’t affected to badly by this schedule.
