Hilary Swank gets star on Hollywood walk of fame

hilary-swank.jpg It’s been a long road to the Hollywood walk of fame for Hilary Swank, two time Oscar winner. She and her mother came to Hollywood 16 years ago with only $75, yet, on Monday there Hilary was getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“I remember my mom using a roll of quarters to call agents from a pay phone and telling agents they should sign me,” said the emotional 32-year-old during the dedication ceremony.

Hilary won an Oscar for Best Actress in 2000 for her portrayal of murdered transgener teen Brandon Teena in “Boys Don’t Cry” and then in 2005 she won yet again for her role as a determined boxer in “Million Dollar Baby”.

Swank attended the event wearing a black sleeveless dress. Accompanying her were producer Joel Silver and the director of her new film “Freedom Writers”, Richard laGravenese.

In “Freedom Writers,” Swank plays a real-life Long Beach English teacher whose idealism spurs her to empower teens affected by racial strife.
