It does look kind of alien doesn't it? For those of you that were asking this is the seed head (or what's left after the flower is gone) of a clematis vine bloom. It's from a Seiboldi hybrid - a blue clematis. Seed heads on my other clematis vines don't look quite this interesting. I usually do dead head my clematis vines after they bloom, but this faded blosom was up too high for me to reach. I did zoom in with my camera though for this cool macro.
