When I was in 6th grade we had to do a bug collection and these guys were the easiest to catch. They would spit brown juice all over the jars...YUCK! I live in the house I grew up in-my dad built it himself. Unfortunately, when the land was dug for the basement, they (friend helped him dig) dug right into a cricket's nest. We never knew crickets actually "nested", but, they do. The first year of living in the house was a nightmare because crickets came out from everywhere! And the chirping at night would drive you crazy. I see a cricket every once in a while in the basement now, but NOTHING like it was when I was little. Funny you mentioned crickets.
