Inline skates were new when I was just old enough to learn how to use them safely. My grandma talks about having metal, on-size-fits-all roller skate attachments for her shoes. She said she had a great time on those. I guess it is just a matter of what you are used to. I still have my first skateboard and my first pair of inline skates. Ah, the memories! I had lots of good times on my skateboard and inline skates. Inline skates were new when I was just old enough to learn how to use them safely. I grew up watch Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, and Chris Everett every summer on TV. I used to go outside and try to perfect their moves. Too bad I turned out so short! There were 6 children in our family. We played softball as a family many evenings. We also had a membership to the YMCA, so we did a lot of swimming. I think skateboards were around, but roller skates were the way to go, when I was a girl. I'll be interested to read how the Heely experiment goes.
