A hardy little rose

Wordless Wednesday

Charles albanel rose

This is a hardy rose named Charles Albanel.

I believe it’s part of the Canadian Explorer series. It blooms at least three times each season and when it does bloom it’s lush with flowers.

When I took this photo I think all of my roses were nearing the end of a bloom cycle but I think the heat wave and more frequent waterings (and maybe that mulch I discussed in the last post) gave them a boost because many are already blooming again.

That’s very beautiful. My dad has some in his garden; they are natural and elegant and sweet.

I like how crepe-y the petals look. When I first opened the picture I thought it was a peony, but then realized the leaves weren’t right. Very pretty, I can almost smell their sweet perfume!

These look just like the roses my grandmother would grow. I miss her and her flower garden. It’s amazing she could get anything to grow, her house was right on a salt marsh.
