I love how this looks! I saw an episode on Cribs where a guy had his whole bathroom done in corks from champagne bottles. It looked great!

I strongly believe that everyone needs to start doing their part to be more environmentally responsible. It seems that we are just playing catch up but at least the movement is motivating. I work in the trade show industry and it ranks number 2 under construction and demolition for filling landfills. I am trying to persuade my customers to buy green trade show displays that are made out of environmentally friendly materials. These materials are basically recycled trash that when finished can be recycled again or if thrown away will break down faster than petroleum based products. Our Bio Carpet tiles are made with PLA fibers. PLA (polylactic acid) fibers are completely compost-able and biodegradable back into lactic acid at the end of their service lives. I tell my customers that they are doing their part to help heal our sick planet. See if there is something you can change in your industry to start becoming green an deco friendly.

We recently remodeled the kitchen in our 1911 house. The rest of the main floor has hardwood floors, and for the kitchen, we opted for cork. There are a lot of different kinds and variations out there: some have a veneer surface. Ours does not, meaning you can sand it, if need be, to refinish it, just like wood. We love it, the look, the feel and the environmental aspect of it as well. It was definitely a learning curve in selecting it, so look around if you're thinking of it.
