I really like your post and it is right on. I own a lawncare company and am really doing a lot of aeration starting this month.

Keep up the great posts!

As a landscaper servicing berks county Pennsylvania, I can say these are some good tips that apply to most people. Not cutting too short is worth repeating, very harmful to all but a few species of turfgrass.

Hopefully people will pay attention to your point of cutting their lawn at about 2-3 inches. Too many people try to save themselves mowing time by cutting the lawn short. They think they can then let it go unmowed longer and it still looks good. In reality, they're just hurting their lawn.

A lot depends on where you live and what type of grass you have in your lawn. Our Durban lawn gets most annoying during autumn when the stalks of its green "flowers" just shoot up within a couple of days after you mow the lawn.
