May I add one more thing to your learning arsenal? When playing difficult phrasings, tape yourself and play it back to pick up what you need to work on. May I suggest working on the acoustic first. I've found out that if you can rock and sound great on a acoustic and nail the song right, then the transformation to electric will be soooo much more simpler! Been in a couple of bands and done several gigs, both playing bass nad guitar on separate occasions. I was initially attracted by the modern flamenco sounds of Rodrigo y Gabriela but found that impossible to play, so I'm just working my way through the scales and chord combos now, trying to convince my fingers to learn. Have the guitar standards such as Les Paul and Strat and began working on acoustic a month or so ago. Having fun!
