What is Guitar Hero really about

December 23, 2008 by Chris

With the Christmas shopping season in full gear, I guess most people have this thing on their shopping list.

This new phenomena, guitar Hero, seems to have everyone frantic to either check it out or buy one, just in case one of their buddies come over and they can jam out together?

Or, do they just want to keep up with the Jones. Well not me.

They also have this game called Guitar Hero band kit? Guitar Hero is a fun thing to play with, I guess!?

What is it that makes this thing so interesting? Is it something that just gets people off the couch or the computer chair and forces them to get some exercise?

I just can’t figure this thing out, can you help me on this?

Keep on Jammin’

I haven’t tried guitar hero, but my husband said he tried it at a buddy’s house and it was really hard to do. It’s not my kind of game and I would never play it, but it looks like it’s hard. Then again I suck with any instrument. xD

I find guitar hero is nothing like playing a real guitar which I rather do. But I do find it entertaining.

Does anyone know which system is the best for guitar hero? I heard that some of the systems guitars are not as go as the others, does anyone know anything about that?

My sister inlaw just got Rock Band (like guitar hero) for Christmas which I found to be pretty fun. As a guitar player of 20 years I don’t think it’s any help with learning the guitar, but the drum part of the program might actually help a beginning drummer improve dexterity.

    Both are fun games.

It really never interested me. I think people make the misconception that if you know how to play guitar, you would love this game and excel at it. I don’t love it nor do I excel at it.

Hey Sarah, I have a next door neighbour that picked one up for X-mas and I think I’ll give it a go and get back to ya, unless the strings on this thing make my fingers useless;)

Oh Vintage Gretsch Guitars, a buddy at work rec’d one for her kidz and she too loved the drums! Are the drum sticks made of wood? Just a question.

    Thanx for your comment!

Lullaway, as Vintage Gretsch Guitars said the Rock Band drumming game was a blast. Maybe you should give it a go?! Get back to us if you do.

    Thanx Lullaway

I’ve played Guitar Hero at a friend’s house when me and the Mrs have gone over for a drink. It’s fun when you’ve got a house full of drunk people, but if I had my own I wouldn’t touch it. I’ve got a perfectly good real guitar upstairs that’s doesn’t get played enough, so I can’t see wasting my time on a video game.

I’ve found if I can already play a song on guitar I have a harder time playing it on Guitar Hero as I want to play notes the game doesn’t want me to play.

I played guitar hero 3 at my mates house and it was difficult at first but i slowly got better, but it can be really addictive and we spent hours trying to complete as much of it as we could and the songs they have on it are really good.

I wonder if alcohol was a factor in this answer Blinds user! Was it?

    Thanx for coming on by!

i’ve played guitar hero and haven’t really been convinced, even after multiple goes with various levels of entertainment (with one other person, at big parties, in between those two). seems like maybe it’s for people who have a bit of the rock star in ’em, but don’t want to actually play in a band or learn an instrument?

A real nice way of looking at it Matty Byloos! Nice.

Keep on Jammin’ or something like that.

i’ve been a guitar teacher for quite a while now. i started playing guitar hero at a friends house, and i think it was a lot of fun. 🙂
nowhere near the real thing, actually not even comparable, thats probably why i enjoy it. one things for sure, it’s addictive, just like real guitar playing!
