Direct view LCDs are almost there. They still can't reproduce true black, but many people aren't bothered by that. Sorry to hear about you DLP. I still feel DLP represents the best price/performance of all current display technologies. I would only recommend people buy Mitsubishi however. Manufacturers do seem to be moving away from DLP in favor of direct view LCD and plasma, since both of those technologies have improved and are much cheaper than they have been. 5 years from now we'll be talking about organic led displays and God knows what else.
