Whatever it is it has figured out the basics of opening a door. Big trouble for the owners.

I have a 10 year old gray cat named Bud & years ago he figured out that the doorknob was key to getting out. I lived in an apartment then & his 2nd favorite spot to lounge was in the window on the landing of the stairs. One evening I was watching TV & he began pawing at the doorknob. I ignored him until he let out a LOUD meow while holding the knob in both paws so I opened the door & let him out. A couple of hours later he was ready to come back inside In all of the years since, he hasn’t forgotten this!

One of my cats jumps up to pull the handle down, and holds onto it for a second while it starts to swing open. Crazy!

I had a dog I called the ‘Door Dog’, he knew how to
get in. We’d close the shoddy back door which had
just a latch, he’d lie on his back, put his paws through
the space at the bottom of the door, and bang his paws
back and forth quickly to make the latch jump out of the
hook, open the door, come in and make himself at home.

This picture is so cute — I think what’s so amazing is the fact that the length of the cat fits the distance from the floor to the know. Too cute!
