If you’ve been following this blog or some of my other blogs in the last while you’ve likely noticed that I’ve been experimenting with different forms of advertising and advertisement placement.
Approximately one month ago I decided to join the Clickbooth publisher affiliate program. I’d heard about Clickbooth on another blog and after reading how well that blogger was doing with their affiliate program I decided to visit the site and sign up.
Clickbooth guarantees publishers the highest payout and a wide variety of advertising options. Publishers can choose to advertise in a variety of ways, for example you might choose to advertise using banners or use their innovative ad rotators which allow publishers to work with a number of different advertisers yet not clutter their sites with numerous banners as the ads can rotate in a chosen location on the website. Clickbooth also allows it’s publishers to advertise offerings via opt in email marketing, contextual pop under as well as via other methods.
I’ve also discovered that I’ll be able to use Clickbooth on most of my blogs because there is such a wide variety of advertisers working with Clickbooth that I can find advertising opportunities to suit most of my blogs niches.
Signing up for an account is fairly easy. I believe I was approved within two days. Also, if memory serves me correctly I was called by a Clickbooth representative to verify my account just prior to being approved. I thought that was a nice personal touch.
One of the things that I really like about Clickbooth is that I’ve been assigned my own personal affiliate manager. I’m able to contact her easily 24 hours a day via email, by phone or even by using AIM. She can also contact me if she has something important to tell me such as reminding me to fill out my W8 Form!
When I login to my Clickbooth account the first page I come to has a selection of offerings that my affiliate manager believes suit the one blog that I’ve registered with Clickbooth so far, as well as the newest offers and hot offers that are apparently based on my websites traffic pattern.
Not only does Clickbooth have a fairly easy to use publisher affiliate program, they also update their members of the latest happenings via the Clickbooth Blog. You can read about Affiliate industry news, behind the scenes happenings at Clickbooth, and information that is helpful to new Clickbooth publishers and advertisers.
In fact it was on the Clickbooth blog that I learned that by following Clickbooth on the Clickbooth Twitter Page I’ll be eligible for randomly awarded prizes if I respond to their tweets. Clickbooth uses Twitter to update their followers about the latest hot offers, events and of course the latest Clickbooth news.
I haven’t been with Clickbooth long enough to have been paid yet, but I can tell you that you can choose to be paid by check or Paypal. My choice is of course Paypal as I find that to be most convenient.
So if you are interested in advertising on your site and you’ve been looking for a good affiliate program I strongly suggest you take a look at Clickbooth.
I know when I first started my blog I had no idea what I was doing. I really enjoyed visiting humor sites because they relaxed me when I was stressed. There’s nothing like a good laugh to make you feel better. So, I decided to create a humor blog about the strange messes people get themselves into, and that has slowly evolved into the Odd Planet that you see before you today.
I’ve only been blogging for a little over a year now, so I’m still new enough to remember those first few months when I was trying to find this sites direction. I’m also still new enough to blogging that I can stand to learn a few more things.
SR asked me to look over an article on their blog entitled “27+1 Tips for Building and Maintaining a Blog Audience“. I was happy to accept their offer as I think this is a great article that all bloggers – new or very experienced – should read.
The article starts out with the fundamentals of blogging which is of course deciding upon a topic for your blog. Sure there are a lot of general blogs out there – some started for purely personal reasons, but if you want to attract an audience for your blog you might do well picking a niche and making your site original.
The article goes over all of the basics in easy to understand terms. There’s information about the various blogging platforms, domain names, and then it gets into the nitty gritty of building your audience. There are so many great tips in this post that if I went over them all my post would be as long as theirs. If you are interested in building your audience I strongly recommend that you read this article. You couldn’t possibly come away from it and think that you didn’t learn at least one thing if not 10 or 20!
The only thing that I think they might have discussed more had to do with comments. The article talks about the importance of allowing visitors to comment on your article. You can get feedback that way, and as you write your new posts you can write while keeping in mind what your audience has told you in previous comments. You can learn what they like, and what they respond to.
What they missed out on saying is that you should also reply to your comments. Not in new posts necessarily, but right in a posts comment section or by email. Stay in touch with your blog visitors, let them know that you enjoyed their comments. When you interact with your site visitors this often helps to encourage them to return.
My wife Tricia writes for a blog network called 451press. She’s been writing a blog called Watching House, and she earns a bit of money off the advertisements on her site.
451press just announced that they have openings for several more writers. They’d like to hire new writers for several new and existing blogs. It’s an easy job – just write posts regularly on the site and 451press does most everything else for you. The blog topics range from Arts, internet, crafts, life and current events.
If you are interested in seeing what blogs and blog topics are available scoot on over to Tricia’s site to see the list of 451press blogs that need writers, then visit the 451press site and apply for the job.
Best of luck to you!
One of the blogging companies that I do a fair amount of work for is holding it’s first ever blogging conference in just a few months. PostieCon 07 is touted as being the largest gathering of bloggers from around the world.
PostieCon is using the theme “You’re a Rock Star” for this event because it believes that bloggers and Internet personalities are an important part of this information age, and that any blogger, big or small, could become a “rock star” in the world of bloggers.
The conference has been developed in order to educate bloggers on how to build site traffic and readership. You can’t gain noterity in the world of blogging if no one knows you’re out there.
Some of the worlds biggest bloggers will be speaking at the convention and by attending you can use the information that they give you to become a better blogger. Bloggers voices are being heard around the world. We influence the media and new trends. By learning from the top bloggers you can use their knowledge, experience and perspective to rise to the top and make your own blogging voice heard as well.
The events start on Thursday May 31 with a pre-conference “Hello my name is … ” meet and greet in the city of Orlando Florida. The next two days, June 1st through June 2nd will be filled with speeches from top bloggers, meal breaks and social events where you can meet fellow bloggers.
