A telephone stalker obsessed with underwear made a big mistake when a gym opened across the street from the apartment that he shared with his mother.
Paul Kavanagh was caught on film by detectives as he leaned over his London apartment balcony while making calls to the gym’s female receptionists.
This month Kavanagh was sentenced to two and a half years jail. He admitted to making 15,000 or so harassing calls to women asking them questions about their underwear. He’d call posing as a clothing researcher and claim to be gathering marketing data for a retailer.
Kavanagh had been making these calls for 12 years before he was caught. He’d usually start off his conversations with questions about the womens socks and sweaters, but then he would move on to their underwear and make lewd suggestions to his victims.
Judge Peter Testar concluded that Kavanagh had been “making these calls for the purposes of sexual gratification and, I must say to my mind, for the purposes of cruelty.”
The calls were all placed using unregistered pay as you go phones. When Kavanagh was finally caught he was, as stated above, targeting the female staff at the gym by commenting on their clothes and the way they wore their hair.
How would you like to have been one of the custom officials opening up a package that had come from Hong Kong that had been marked “personal clothing” only to find about 300 live scorpions and spiders!
The scorpions and spiders had been packed in nets, bottles and transparent plastic boxes and were concealed under clothing and newspapers within the package. Tarantulas were also included in the spider tally.
“The scorpions almost bit the examiner,” Nelson Ebio, a port collector at the Central Mail Exchange Center, told the Philippine Daily Inquirer. It was the first time the post office had encountered such poisonous mail, he said.
The package had arrived from Hong Kong on a Monday, but it wasn’t clear who had sent the package or why although it’s been speculated that the package was intended for someone who collects these types of invertebrates and insects. My guess, having been involved in reptile keeping, is more along the lines that these creatures were being smuggled into the country illegally for the pet trade.
The spiders and scorpions have been handed over to Manila parks and wildlife officials.
The spiders and scorpions were later handed over to the parks and wildlife office.

Maybe this will become a new CSI technique:
Robert Russel Moore, 33, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the burglary of an Arby’s in Prince Frederick, Md this past October. Moore was the assistant manager of the restaurant and was identified by clues from the surveillance tape.
Employees of the Arby’s said they recognized the burglar’s body shape, clothing and, when he bent over, the distinctive top portion of his buttocks, as being those of Moore. The owner of the restaurant said he had had to counsel Moore “more than once” about the inadvertent exposure of his butt crack.
First of all, why would this guy rob the store he worked at as an assistant manager? and two- if he is so “identifiable” why risk it? Lets call him the butt crack robber shall we.
