How many times have you heard stories about criminals that have done some stupid everyday kind of thing that ends up being what gets them caught?
I know I’ve written enough stories like that here on Odd Planet!
You know the ones that have expired tags on their vehicles or a broken tail light? Basically minor traffic infractions that end up getting them caught for major crimes!
Once such criminal is Larenzo Dixon, 22 of San Diego. He was arrest in March at a downtown transit station during a police crackdown on jaywalkers.
A routine check of the illegal jaywalker turned up a murder warrant on Dixon from Louisiana.

If you aren’t the brightest bulb on the planet …
If you’re in a hurry to get some dope calling 911 might not be your best move. Have you ever text messaged or paged someone and added 911 to your message so that the person would know it was urgent? Well, Pomona California Police say that two suspects trying to page a drug dealer from a payphone mistakenly called 911 as they were trying to make an urgent dope deal.
Michael Olivieri, a Police sergeant, says that dispatchers traced the call and sent officers to the location. When the police arrived they arrested Paul White and Ryan Ogie after searching a care with stolen plates and finding suspected burglary tools.
The men admitted to mistakenly calling 911. All that Sergeant Olivieri had to say to that was “No one said criminals are smart.”

Some criminals are so dumb they really should find a new line of work.
Daniel Brown, 22, of Hartselle, Ala., thought he was smart when he wore a ski mask to hide his identity from his grandfather when he staged a home invasion this past January. What went wrong? When he burst in to the house he yelled, “I need your money, and I mean it, Pa-Paw.”.
To top things off he was stupid enough to try denying that he was the man behind the mask when he was arrested.
Then there’s Glenn Vickers, 53, who was allegedly intoxicated while driving on Interstate 64 near Kanawa County, W. Va. He decided to tailgate a driver that day. Guess who he was tailgating as he weaved on the roadway? None other than Sheriff Mike Rutherford who was driving an unmarked car.
After Vickers jockeyed behind Rutherford for a while, he peeled off at an exit and flipped Rutherford the finger. He should have paid more attention to his driving though since the act of raising his finger high caused him to crash into the guardrail. I guess it’s a good thing he didn’t end up hurting anyone while he was DUI.
