Weird news on blogs around the world

I think I’m pretty good at finding weird news stories, but today I decided to take a little break and show you what other bloggers have been finding as far as weird news goes.

It didn’t take me very long to find some amazing stories. I’m pretty sure that if you like the kind of weird news stories I write about here on Odd Planet that you’ll like what these other bloggers have found as well.

Here goes:

Is there an award for dumbest criminal?

Some criminals are so dumb they really should find a new line of work.

Daniel Brown, 22, of Hartselle, Ala., thought he was smart when he wore a ski mask to hide his identity from his grandfather when he staged a home invasion this past January. What went wrong? When he burst in to the house he yelled, “I need your money, and I mean it, Pa-Paw.”.

To top things off he was stupid enough to try denying that he was the man behind the mask when he was arrested.

Then there’s Glenn Vickers, 53, who was allegedly intoxicated while driving on Interstate 64 near Kanawa County, W. Va. He decided to tailgate a driver that day. Guess who he was tailgating as he weaved on the roadway? None other than Sheriff Mike Rutherford who was driving an unmarked car.

After Vickers jockeyed behind Rutherford for a while, he peeled off at an exit and flipped Rutherford the finger. He should have paid more attention to his driving though since the act of raising his finger high caused him to crash into the guardrail. I guess it’s a good thing he didn’t end up hurting anyone while he was DUI.

San Diego DUI lawyer

I don’t know how many of you that visit this site are from San Diego, but I’ve just come across a site for a San Diego DUI Lawyer who might come in handy if any of you are ever charged with driving while intoxicated. I certainly hope you aren’t though - take a cab, don’t risk it.

The lawyer has a list on his site of past victories. He lists the persons blood alcohol levels in each case. Some of the levels were under the limit but I suppose that alcohol in their system might have still been a factor in the accident. Others had extremely high levels of alcohol in their system and frankly I’m more than a little bit surprised that he managed to either save their licenses or privileges.

He’s used everything from peoples past illnesses- gastric problems, to vomiting around the time of the breath analysis as a defense. he’s come up with some interesting defenses.
