You know a cities gone insane when they name a cartoon character as one of their most famous residents.
Just such a thing happened a little while ago in Glasgow Scotland when the city council named Scrooge McDuck as one of their cities most famous residents!
It’s said that the famous duck started life as a humble shoe shine in Glasgow.
Scrooge has now been named on a Who’s Who list of the city’s most famous residents. This list also includes Scrooges nephews Donald, Dewar as well as Billy Connolly.
What is in the water over in Glasgow?
If you think you know a sports addict you haven’t seen anything yet! A Chicago couple who are die hard Cubs fans named their child Wrigley Fields!
His parents have said that it’s ok if he uses his middle name, Alexander, when he’s older but for now the newborn goes by the name of Wrigley. I suppose that’s an appropriate enough name for a newborn, but once this child’s a few years old that name won’t fly. Of course his last name is Fields.
The Michigan City, Indiana couple are big fans of the Cubs and they’ve had this name planned for years.
Spokeswoman for the Cubs, Katelyn Thrall has said that the name might be a first as the team has no record of any other children who’ve been named Wrigley. However there have been a few children named after famous Cubs such as Zambrano, and Ryne.
Anyone planning a vacation in Germany this year? It’d be great to visit in time for Octoberfest wouldn’t it? Beer, sausages, snitchel, and sauerkraut. Yum. If you are planning on going to Octoberfest I hope that you already looked for Hotels in Berlin. I actually think the festivals on right now. Oops. Well maybe next year for Octoberfest then. How about touring some castles or going to some of the famous spa resorts in Germany then?
I’d like to visit Vienna someday. It sounds like such a beautiful city. I know that I’d like to go on some of the walking tours in Vienna and perhaps even do some wine tasting too. I’m not sure that it’d be a good idea to combine the two activities though!
I’ve heard that there’s some beautiful Hotels in Vienna. The Bristol Hotel looks like a castle. It’s amazing! I think I’d want to stay there if I were going to Vienna. It’s a full service hotel from what I’ve read.
Have you been to Europe? Maybe Germany? What Hotels in Berlin would you recommend? As I said earlier theres a lot of reasons to visit Berlin, Germany and I hope that one day well visit that city as well as Vienna and a few other European must see cities as well.
Bad news, bear.
Knut, the adorable polar-bear cub who has become a Berlin zoo’s most famous resident, is being put on a diet - and that means no more croissants.
“If Knut would live outdoors, his extra weight wouldn’t be so bad,” said a zoo vet. “He would simply build up his fat reserves for the winter.”
But in captivity, Knut won’t need the blubber to stay warm in winter, so he is stuck with his special porridge of milk, meat, cod-liver oil and vitamins.
“Extras like croissants will need to be dropped,” the vet said.
If bears on bad diets isn’t enough for you check out this post that I came across that lists 15 very unfortunate ad placements. Some are quite funny.
