Talk about an embarrassing day at the golf course! A South Korean golfer, identified only as Jung by the Country’s Supreme Court, was fined 2 million Won ($1,400) for a golfing incident that took place at a golf club in Gunsan Province two years ago.
So how did Jung the golfer end up in court? Well, according to reports Jung wound up for a huge swing at the third hold, but when his left foot slipped, the ball rocketed off in the wrong direction and hit his caddy in the stomach. Oddly enough his caddy was standing 8 meters behind him!
The caddy was injured badly enough that he needed seven weeks of hospital treatment!
The Supreme Court recognized lower courts’ ruling that Jung had violated the duty of due care to prevent injury to others while playing a sport.
“In events such as boxing or judo, injury to the opponent is to be expected so there is that mitigating circumstance,” the court said.
“But in golf, it is unreasonable to expect a caddy should anticipate injury to him or herself.”

Sour Dough
The Kuwait Times reported in April that food inspectors shut down the Hawally bakery in Kuwait City after finding dough stored in a toilet, which the owner explained was so that the humidity would keep it moist.
Red Light Cheater
Caught by police with illegal emergency lights on his car, Bradenton, Fla., restaurant manager Kenneth Holmes, 26, said at his February sentencing for impersonating a police officer that he did it “to get home quicker” and that the flashers were “cool” and a “fantastic time-saver” that enabled him to drive through red lights.
Long Exorcism
In March, David Little, a Fredericton, New Brunswick, anti-abortion activist who was resisting his upcoming trial on tax-evasion charges, told the judge that he would need an indefinite postponement because his wife and stepdaughter were possessed by Satan and required exorcism. Little, 60, told the judge that some exorcisms work quickly, but that he knows of one that has lasted 16 years. The judge told Little to bring in some evidence of the possession. (Little has openly refused to pay taxes because some government money funds abortions.)
