Aerosol sets off alarms

They must have some sensitive fire alarms in Berlin Germany. Recently a group of young German women used so much spray deodorant in the North Sea youth Hostel’s bathroom that it set off the fire alarm. The local fire brigade responded to the alarms rushing into to rescue the young women.

“The fumes of the pleasant-smelling deodorant were so intense that they drifted up to the ceiling and set off a fire detector,” said Volker Buttgereit of the Buesum police force.

“Hopefully the girls will get by with a little less spray next time,” said Buttgereit, admitting to being surprised that the heavy use of deodorant set off the alarm.

Sticky mud leads to arrest of thieves

Thieves running from pursuers in Germany made the job of capturing them easier when they tried to flee across a drained pond and got stuck so fast in mud they had to be helped out by police.

A spokesman for police in the eastern city of Chemnitz said on Wednesday “They probably thought the pond looked dry and that it would be a handy shortcut, but they got totally stuck.”

Having released the men from the sludge, police arrested the pair, both Poles in their twenties. The two had earlier given officers the slip after being caught breaking into a car.

Sounds like they have some quicksand like mud over in Germany.

Police in Germany get amazing tip

We’ve all heard of police finding finger prints at the scene of a crime but how often do they get the orginal print too? Police in Germany got just that, when a careless burglar left behind a vital clue at a break-in when he sliced off the end of a finger on a broken window while committing a robbery.

The police were able to match the piece of finger with existing prints they had from a 15-year-old of Iraqi origin. The youth initially denied breaking and entering into an office to steal a computer but confessed when police produced the digital remnant.

I wonder if the police kept the “tip” on ice while they sought the criminal or not?
