Freak shot lands caddy in hospital and golfer in court!

Talk about an embarrassing day at the golf course! A South Korean golfer, identified only as Jung by the Country’s Supreme Court, was fined 2 million Won ($1,400) for a golfing incident that took place at a golf club in Gunsan Province two years ago.

So how did Jung the golfer end up in court? Well, according to reports Jung wound up for a huge swing at the third hold, but when his left foot slipped, the ball rocketed off in the wrong direction and hit his caddy in the stomach. Oddly enough his caddy was standing 8 meters behind him!

The caddy was injured badly enough that he needed seven weeks of hospital treatment!

The Supreme Court recognized lower courts’ ruling that Jung had violated the duty of due care to prevent injury to others while playing a sport.

“In events such as boxing or judo, injury to the opponent is to be expected so there is that mitigating circumstance,” the court said.

“But in golf, it is unreasonable to expect a caddy should anticipate injury to him or herself.”

102 and she’s still hitting a hole in one!

Did you hear about Elsie Mclean? Back in April she became the oldest person ever to hit a hole in one on a regulation golf course. Guess how old she is? She’s 102 years old!

She whacked the ball with a driver and nailed the par -3 100 yard shot in Bidwell Park.

“For an old lady, I still hit the ball pretty good,” McLean told local TV station KNVN.

Golfers encounter strange observer

A curious Emu was intrigued by some golfers recently. The giant bird followed two golfers for nine holes at an Elma, Wash., course, watching every swing and walking around them.

“It was strange,” said Sue McMeekin. “She’s awful big and she made me nervous.”

Course employees called police, who determined the bird belonged to a neighbor and had escaped.
