This is an unusual tree house.

It’s actually only a few blocks from where we live here in Toronto. It’s south of the Danforth.

Why someone would build a tree house in what looks like a dead try I have no idea. If my memory serves me correctly I do think it was the only big tree in that houses backyard so perhaps that’s why the tree house is there.

If I were a kid I’m not sure I’d like this tree house as much as if it were build in a live tree where my secret fort could be hidden from view.

Clothespins aren’t just for hanging clothes?

Isn’t this terrible?

A substitute kindergarten teacher in Amanda, Ohio, was so fed up as she listened to four overly-chatty boys. So she silenced them by using clothespins on their mouths.

Ruth Ann Stoneburner was permanently suspended after she admitted to attaching the spring-type clothespins on the kids’ upper or lower lips.

Teens nabbed after shooting lawyer with BB guns

Two teens learned that it isn’t good to shoot at Dr. Death!

Dr. Death, Michael J. Breczinski, an attorney, was walking to his car one night when he heard a loud pop and felt a sting on his neck. The 54 year old man turned to see smirking 14 and 15 year old teens hiding their hands.

When he asked the teens if they’d shot him with a BB gun the teens ran away. Unfortunately for the teens he gave chase and one of the teens pulled out a BB gun and shot at him again. Breczinski was hit in the arms and torso with pellets but he managed to tackle the teen in the parking lot.

The youth eventually struggled and got away from the Lawyer but both teens were later arrested by police in a nearby restaurant. The pair are expected to face felonious assault charges.

Breczinski who had to get a tetanus shot for the pellet wounds says the kids got off lucky. He’d taken target practice earlier in the day but he’d decided not to carry his .45 ruger with him to the mall. He says ther’s no guarantee he wouldn’t have known the teen had only pulled a BB gun and he might have pulled out his own weapon if he’d had it.

Insects in strange places

Working in a hospital I know that people, especially kids but not exclusively kids, put things in strange places. The nose and ear are the areas where foreign objects are most often placed by children.

Strange things get in our ears and noses by no fault of our own as well. Medical literature is full of reports of insects crawling into or nesting in peoples ears. One recent case was newsworthy - In May an Albany Ore child had a spider the size of a pencil eraser in her ear. She had to go to the doctors office to have it removed.

The child, Jesse Courtney, was no worse for wear and thought the whole experience was kind of cool even bringing the then dead spider to school to show it off.

Apparently in 1993 there was a British machinist who had bad earaches. It was found that he had a pregnant spider living in his ear. He ended up keeping the spider as a pet once it was extricated from his ear.
