Indonesian businessman wants Polygamy made easier

An Indonesian businessman is complaining that polygamy is not so easy. The businessman’s attempt to make polygamy easier was rejected by the Indonesian constitutional court earlier this year.

Polygamy is legal in Indonesia but according to the countries marriage laws the only way that a man can take a second wife is to have it approved in court. To obtain approval the first wife must agree and either must be disabled or be unable to have children.

The businessman’s attempt to change the policy on Polygamy involved arguing that the conditions listed above effectively prevent polygamy and have caused many men to simply avoid registering their second marriages. Which of course means that children from these unregistered marriages could lose their inheritance rights and other benefits.

South Koreans allowed to wear Mini-Skirts

Girls from South Korea must be breathing a sigh of relief at this news - Hot pants and miniskirts will soon be legal in South Korea.

South Korea is in the final stages of revising an indecency law that prohibits people from wearing revealing outfits and was once enforced by ruler-wielding police during authoritarian governments in the 1970s. The laws do not match current social views.

Under authoritarian rule woman were arrested or fined for their fashion choices. Scissors were also taken to men whose hair was felt to be too long. People were also tossed in jail for unauthorized dancing. The rules have been in the books even after South Korea became a democracy in the 1980’s, however the rules were no longer enforced.
