If you think you know a sports addict you haven’t seen anything yet! A Chicago couple who are die hard Cubs fans named their child Wrigley Fields!
His parents have said that it’s ok if he uses his middle name, Alexander, when he’s older but for now the newborn goes by the name of Wrigley. I suppose that’s an appropriate enough name for a newborn, but once this child’s a few years old that name won’t fly. Of course his last name is Fields.
The Michigan City, Indiana couple are big fans of the Cubs and they’ve had this name planned for years.
Spokeswoman for the Cubs, Katelyn Thrall has said that the name might be a first as the team has no record of any other children who’ve been named Wrigley. However there have been a few children named after famous Cubs such as Zambrano, and Ryne.
When a priest who received complaints from one of his parishioners on his answering machine played the tape in church and asked his congregation “Should we send him to hell or to another parish?”
Angel Llavona, the parishioner who left the complaint, filed a defamation lawsuit Monday claiming the events at St. Thomas the Apostle Church caused him emotional distress that forced him to leave the Roman Catholic parish.
All this started about a year ago when Llavona left a message for the Rev. Luis Alfredo Rios complaining about a sermon he had given, the lawsuit said. “I attended Mass on Sunday and I have seen poor homilies, but yesterday broke all records,” Llavona said.
The lawsuit says Llavona, a high school teacher who helped out with the church’s religious education program, tried to meet with Rios. But when the meeting fell apart, he left another complaint on the priest’s answering machine.
Llavona said on Oct. 1, 2006, Rios played his voice messages for the congregation.
Then, according to the lawsuit, Rios said: “This is the person in charge of religious education here last year. That’s why it is no surprise to me we had the kind of religious education we had. That’s why we didn’t get altar boys. What should we do, should we send him to hell or to another parish?”
Llavona is seeking at least $50,000 in damages. “Rios impugned Llavona’s reputation as a teacher and as a good Catholic before his fellow parishioners,” the suit said.
Penny Wiegert, a spokeswoman for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockford, said Rios was at a retreat Wednesday and unavailable for comment.
The diocese is also named as a defendant. Wiegert said she couldn’t comment on the specifics of the lawsuit, but released a diocese statement expressing hope for “a peaceful solution.”
A Port St. Lucie Florida woman has been held on a gun charge after she claimed that she accidently shot her husband in the head after being startled by the burglar alarm.
April Moylan, 39 years of age, was charged on Wednesday with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and has been ordered held on a $75,000 bond.
Sheriff Ken mascara stated on Wednesday that the attorney’s office is going over the facts of the case and additional charges could be laid in the future.
Now here’s where the story takes a strange turn:
April’s husband, Michael Eugene Moylan, 45, awoke early Tuesday morning with a severe headache. The couple went to the hospital where the bullet was discovered in Moylan’s head.
It was first thought that Moylan might have been the victim of a stray bullet but it was later discovered that the couples stories didn’t match up.
The couple finally fessed up and told authorities that April sleeps with a loaded .32 caliber gun under her pillow. When the burglar alarm sounded at 4 a.m. Tuesday morning she grabbed the gun and it accidentally discharged a bullet into her husbands head just behind his ear.
The couple hadn’t wanted to tell the truth because they are both convicted felons and as a result are not allowed to own a gun so they came up with the headache story.
April was previously convicted for sale and delivery of cocaine in Palm Beach County. At this time her husband Michaels criminal record is not available.
Michael Moylan’s head wound was not considered life threatening. He’s recovering in the hospital.
It seems that Michael is a lucky man! I wonder what other charges the couple might face when the investigate concludes?
Well here’s another one for the Brits! They have retained supremacy in High-Speed sofas.
A few weeks ago, Marek Turowski drove a motorized chesterfield down a runway. He managed to attain a speed of 147 km hour.
The motorized furniture is made by Edd China, and believe it or not the sofa is officially street legal for driving! This new ultimate relaxation vehicle will be used to raise money for charity.
Turowski said of his feat: “It was terrifying. You feel every bump.” The previous record of 139 km/h was also set by a British sofa.
You’d think that it would have been a more comfortable ride would you? They’ll have to put more shock absorbers in upcoming models.
