New way to fund a wedding?

In October a Michigan sheriff offered to perform a wedding ceremony for two thieves who’d been knocking over banks to fund their nuptials.

All they had to do was turn themselves in.

“I’ll volunteer to marry them in jail if they surrender,” said Lapeer County Sheriff Ron Kalanquin.

The couple robbed a bank of $5,000 a few weeks ago to buy wedding rings and pay for other expenses related to their wedding.

There’s no word as to whether the couple turned themselves in or not.

You gotta serve somebody

I found another story with kind hearted crooks.

In Uruguay, three thieves robbing a sporting-goods store spent half an hour waiting on customers before making their getaway.

Unusual? Well they’d just locked up one employee in a back room and forced another to hand over money when some customers came into the shop in Montevideo. The robbers sold them goods for about 30 minutes before taking off.

Swallowing the evidence

Did you know that Jewelry store thieves sometimes swallow their stash at the scene in order to make a clean getaway? I was in the jewelry trade and I didn’t know that one!

Since this form of hiding the stash is more common than I ever knew it was, police have now started to routinely wait out those suspected of stealing jewels. The cops monitor the toilets until the evidence passes naturally.

In March of 2007 Police in Canton, Ohio arrested four men. They were certain that at least one of them had swallowed a 2-carat ring said to be worth about $30,000. Police recovered the ring the following day after sifting through the toilets. The ring still had the stores price tag on it!

Thieves caught after leaving pictures behind

Two German teenagers in Berlin weren’t all that smart when they robbed another teenager.

The girls stole a 15 year olds shoes, money and mobile phone. I suppose they felt sorry for the girl though, because they ended up giving her their old mobile phone.

The two girls, both 17 years old, forgot that they old mobile contained photos of themselves smiling and striking poses.

Police were quick to publish the photos of the thieves online Tuesday in an effort to catch the girls. The girls ended up turning themselves in when their pictures appeared on the evening news.

“One girl was brought down by her father after he saw her on the television,” said police spokesman Frank Plewka. “Today the pictures were in the papers, so the father’s phone has been ringing all day, because everyone recognized them.”

Neither girl had ever been in trouble with the law before.
