Con artists and suckers

You’ve all heard those stories about people selling swamp land and so on …

Well rather than sell some sucker a bridge, a California man - Steven Ferguson - made off with $5 million dollars when he sold off a waste treatment plant in New Jersey.

the smooth talker promised huge returns on the investments that his soon to be victims thought was going to be a waste treatment plant.

He has since been sentenced to 11 years in prison and ordered to pay $6 million in fines.

Exploding lighter shuts down neighborhood

Sheriffs deputies mistook an exploding cigarette lighter for gunfire and dove to the ground, called in reinforcements and shut down a neighborhood for hours!

“We have a lot of unusual things happen in our business, and we expected the unexpected. It’s better to be safe than sorry,” Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Robert Craton said.

The lighter in question belonged to one of the two people that had been stopped around noon for loitering and drinking alcohol in Zappopan Park. While the two were being questioned the lighter was placed on the hood of a police car. When the lighter exploded shrapnel went everywhere and the two deputies and two suspects went down to the ground when they thought they were being fired upon.

Reinforcements were called in and the neighborhood was locked down for two hours. Deputies clutching shotguns and pistols leaned on squad cars and a command post went up at a nearby Wal-Mart Supercenter parking lot.

Paramedics and dozens of deputies were on hand as helicopters buzzed the area. Two hours later, a special enforcement officer discovered the culprit - the Bic lighter.

Save the world - think positively

Do you believe in the power of positive thinking? Do you think it could save the world?

If you do, you aren’t alone. Apparently a group of transcendental meditation practitioners are saying that crime and war could be stopped in it’s tracks by channeling huge amounts of human psychic energy into productive thought.

Needham, Mass., psychiatrist Eric Leskowitz told reporters recently that he and his cousin are making a documentary. They’ve borrowed from the TM principle to measure the impact of Fenway Park fans’ creating unified fields of brain waves to carry Boston Red Sox to victory.

I’ve always heard there’s power in positive thought … I wonder what would happen if we started an internet based campaign to save the world?

Blooper medley

Just for the heck of it I thought I’d post this collection of bloopers. It’s amazing how stupid, utterly totally stupid some people can be. Have a look.

What was your favorite clip from this video?

I think my fav was the idiot who decided to try lighting his fart. That was either a massive fart or he tried to light it with something highly explosive.

If you come across a funny video - blooper or otherwise - please send me a link for it. If I like it I might just post it here for all my visitors to see. Naturally I’ll give you credit for pointing me to the video or towards a source of good material for this site.
