A Pennsylvania man set the world record by skipping a single stone on water 51 times.

Russell Byars, 43, shattered the previous record of 40 skims.

“I actually threw 40 stones that day, but that was the first skip that I threw,” said Byars, who is known as “Rock Bottom” in the competitive stone-skipping world.

The worlds longest firecracker

At the beginning of March organizers in Taiwan lit up an 8.1 mile string of explosives in a Southern Taiwanese county in the hopes of creating the worlds longest firecracker. The continuous explosions of the line of firecrackers lasted approximately two hours.

Rapid flashes of bright red explosions that created huge wafts of white smoke were shown on televsion during the Chinese New Year celebration in Tainan County. The celebration had been dubbed “Legend of the Fire Dragon”.

Those gathered to witness theGuinness World record breaking attemptwore masks, goggles and even motorcycle helmets to protect themselves from the pollution.

The attempt to break the world record will be verified by Guinness officials. Spain holds the current world record for the longest continuously burning firecracker. Spains record breaking firecracker was seven miles long.

Worlds biggest kiss off

smooch Did you hear about the massive kiss off in Manila, Philippines on Valentines day?

At the stroke of midnight more than 6,000 couples kissed simultaneously. Event organizers claim to have sent a new world record, breaking the record held by Hungary where 5,875 couples kissed at the same time in Budapest in 2005.

unofficially it’s said that 6,124 couples kissed simultaneously. However the numbers must be verified by an independent auditor and then must be approved by Guinness World Record officials before it becomes a new world record.

The event took place outside a Manila mall. Along with the more than 6,000 kissing couples there were fireworks, confetti, a giant TV screen and red balloons.
