This is an Alium. This plant is related to the onion family, however this one is an ornamental flower. This Alium bud is just about to flower. It should be in full bloom any day now.
This bud looks large in this photo but it’s actually only about an inch and a half tall by an inch in diameter at the most. It sits on a stalk that is a foot and a half tall.
