I took this picture in November. The area looks quite different now as we’ve had a lot of snow since then (mostly this week!). However, the picture looks so peaceful, and the autumn colors are so lovely, that I decided that it was time to post it.
The holidays are a hectic time for most of us. This picture reminds me to slow down and enjoy the scenery and the moment.

You might remember that back in November I posted a photo of a lovely blue flower that I now believe was Wild Chicory. If I’m right, these flower seed heads are Chicory flower seed heads.
I find it amazing that a flower can still look beautiful, even as it is dying down for the winter season.
It’s true that moss always grows on the North side of a tree.
I saw this sun dapple tree with it’s interesting bark and moss growing in the cracks while on a nature hike in the city (Toronto) on Saturday. I couldn’t resist taking a few photos of it. I love trees – particularly when they are without leaves … why, I’m not sure.
This flower is known as Scabiosa or more commonly a Pincushion flower.
I thought mine had died out, but to my surprise several of these lovely flowers started coming up in my front flower bed this year. The petal pattern is lovely when viewed from above isn’t it?
