Screwed up sleep cycle

December 8, 2006 by Tricia

I’m exhausted.

I find myself staying up all night because of my pain and then sleeping well into the day. yeah I’m sleeping but my body really wants to sleep at night.

When I do get up my head is foggy and I can’t concentrate as well these days. I need to try to turn my rotten sleep cycle around again.

I’ve thought of trying to stay up through the night and into the day and then crashing sometime in the evening, but whenever I’ve tried that I only sleep for a few hours and wake up in so much pain that I’m awake for several hours before I can get it under control and go to bed again, and often by that time it’s like 6 am. Grrr.

I’ve got to turn this around.

I am having similar problems with my sleep. It’s so frustrating. I don’t have the pain factor, so I can only imagine how frustrating yours is. I think for me, I just get too into doing things during the night (because I can while my kid is asleep) and then I end up falling asleep with him when he naps during the day and I’m not tired at night. It’s a terrible cycle, isn’t it? I hope we can both turn it around soon! I should have been able last night, but I was too into other things to just stop and go to sleep when I should have! Aaaaah!

I’m sorry to hear you are having trouble. I hope you can find a solution real soon. I have similar sleep issues, but mine are due to RLS.

Is it the Crohns that makes you in pain? Poor you. I know how it is with chronic diseases… Not fun at all. I’ve been sick to, with pain in my stomach and no appetite (not normal for the hungry monster!), a terrible infection headache and the doctor that won’t check it up properly. My back medicine seems to help though, so I have hope 🙂

So… your pain… what to do? I know that a friend of mine do sleep less during the night and then takes a siesta nap in the afternoon to cope. I can’t do that myself, but maybe it can help you?

Put the alarmclock on if needed. Adjust a couple of hours only in the beginning and then increase it.

How about eating something small too and drink to get sleepy? I always get really sleepy if I drink beer with very low alcohol percentage in it. If you stomach can take that of course.

Warmth bath or massage from hubby to relax?

I’ll think about it and if I get some ideas, I’ll come back!

My big news: I have been honored to be a finalist in the Weblog Awards 2006!!! YEEEEAH! Its’ tough competition with the famous bloggers, phew!

So I have a humble request: help me, the little ant, to fight against the big elephants in the Weblog awards 2006 by voting for Lifecruiser every day 7-15 dec and write something about my fight on your blog!

I need all support I can get! Spread the word to everyone! Ants against elephants! *lol*
