I’m pretty sure that I’ve mentioned in the past that I have a DVR. In case you aren’t sure what a DVR is, it’s a Digital Video Recorder. You might know it by names such a TIVO. I rent mine through my cable provider Rogers Cable, but since not everyone uses Rogers you might get one from companies such as DirectTV or other large cable and satellite television providers.
We used ours this past weekend to record some of the World Junior Hockey Championship – which of course it appears Canada is winning. HA! Some of the games were early, and others fell when my husband was out of town at his families home so he wanted to record them so that he could see the full games, and also because his brother and nephew from Chicago were coming here for a visit. They’re a hockey loving family so having some pre-recorded games on the DVR was great. They sat around watching hockey games last night. (I fell asleep on the couch- oh well).
When the regular TV season is upon us – like next week when shows like 24 start up, when Lost Returns and when all the regulars that we’ve been watching since September like House, Desperate Housewives, all the CSI’s etc come back on I’ll be using my DVR to record the programs. You see many of the shows that both my husband and I like to watch are on at the same time. Without a DVR we’d be out of luck as far as catching both shows. My DVR also comes in handy when I go out of town or when I’m working (I know I’m off sick now, but when I was working) because I would never miss my favorite shows. Even if I came home at midnight I could still sit and watch all the shows that I love and skip the commercials too by using my remote to fast forward through them.
Who else has a DVR or Tivo? Do you love it? If you don’t have a DVR and want to learn more about these amazing digital recorders you can get more info on the DVR Websites listed on this page. I think it would be a good item to have in your home if you have kids or if you have a busy lifestyle.
The DVR actually begins to record every show that you watch. So if the phone rings while you are watching your favorite show you can use your remote and put the show on pause, take your call, or put your kids to bed, and then come back and hit play and your show will begin where you left off. Or if you forget to do that you can rewind back to where you left off.
I Love it!
