My husband and I never seem to take holidays. Well, yes we do travel to various places but it always seems to be a family related event. Remember last summer we went to Chicago? Well we stayed with Chris’ brother when we visited. We also went to Ottawa that summer and stayed at my brothers. We want to go to Vancouver sometime in the next year and oh guess what? We’ll probably stay with another brother of mine when we go there.
Believe me it’s nice to be able to stay in someone’s home when you go on a little vacation. It certainly saves money, and often we end up staying with people that we don’t see very often so it’s a good chance to get together and visit.
We never seem to get away for a real vacation. What is a real vacation anyway? I’d love to go to one of the Caribbean island resorts, or perhaps to South America – maybe Costa Rica, or perhaps a lovely European vacation?
You know what I’ve been thinking about doing? Signing up for a membership with a club that has resorts all over the world. We wouldn’t have any excuse not to plan holidays to different parts of the world each year if we had a membership with one of the holiday clubs like leisuretime holidays. All we’d have to do would be decide where exactly we’d want to go and book it through the club. Then we’d end up staying in a luxurious resort for a week or two each year.
I could certainly go for that. In fact, that might be the only way we start taking regular holidays!
How about you? Do you take regular holidays each year? Do you go the same types of places over and over again, or do you try to go somewhere different for each holiday?

Chicago is soo great! It’s such a nice city! The Bahamas sound like they need money (with their whole Bahamavention campaign) so it must either be crowded now (thanks to the ad campaign) or still empty (because no one is taking time off work yet and it isn’t quite summer). Maybe that would be a cool place to get away for a vacation? I used to have a family vacation every year but that stopped once I stopped living away from home. So like, yesterday. Actually, that was over 4 years ago.

I’d love to take more regular holidays. I’ve been fortunate with the ones I’ve had over the last few years.
I got married last year so went to Singapore and Bali.
Earlier that year was the Wife’s 30th so I took her to Rome.
The year before we went to Tunisia on a package deal.
Earlier that same year a friends parents paid for a villa in the Bahamas where 12 of us met up – we just paid our food and flights.
Money is tight now due to moving house and getting everything else sorted. Maybe a few breaks this year to cottages or BnBs will help out at the weekends. I certainly could do with a holiday.

You’ll have to let me and Robyn know the next time you are in Chicago, so we can meet!

Brian – I’ve always heard that the Bahamas is expensive. I wonder if it still is, as I would imagine that would stop some people from visiting.
Rob you’ve been to some fantastic places in the last three years! I’d love to go to anyone of those Countries. 🙂
Lisa – Hopefully we’ll drive to Chicago sometime this summer. It’s a long drive. 10 to 12 hours depending on stops and traffic. It’s worth it though. I was only in Chicago for three days and I LOVED it. From my brief visit it seems like it’s very much like Toronto which might explain why I enjoyed the city so much. We’ll definitely let you and Robyn know if we come up for a visit.
