Last night, after my brothers and sister, Chris and I finished dinner we were walking back towards my brothers hotel we found that the streets were crowded with partiers.
Everyone was lined up to get into the hot night clubs, or walking the street after seeing a movie, leaving restaurants as we were and so on.
As we made our way down one of the busy streets we passed a street person. He was sitting on the ground with a sign in his lap. We’d already been approached by street people even as we ate at the restaurants outdoor patio … and yes we did give some money to those who looked like they needed it, but not to all.
This particular street person was sitting on the ground near a light pole. He called out as we walked by “I accept credit card payments! I have a family to feed you know!”.
We couldn’t help but laugh, picturing a street persons Visa business address – 5th pole at Front and Adelaide, and pictured him with one of those Visa machines that make an impression of the card number.
Only in Toronto!
Now to be clear I’m not laughing at this guy. I thought it was a great way to catch our attention. Obviously it worked. LOL

Lmao…thats actually quite funny. He has enough money to get one of those machines, yet he can’t feed his family…alrighty then!

Do the drug dealers and prostitutes do the same thing? The mind boggles!

nice for him! he can eat now. Did you hear about the operation Don Quichotte in Paris when street people were all along the Seine in bivouac to sensibilise people and autorities about their condition in winter?
After their were bivouacs in all big town of France!

Street people taking visa? Maybe it is something I should get into. Anyways, I think your blog is pretty awesome. I’d be glad to offer you one of my awesome, super soft Geekfitters.com shirts in exchange for a link.

We were approached by a homeless guy in Halifax and I gave him a reasonable amount of money. When he expressed an interest in the boxed leftovers that I had taken away from our meal at a fancy restaurant, I lied to him assuring him that he wouldn’t want what was in the box. It was fettuccine with crayfish. I wanted it for myself. Is that wrong? I mean, he might not have liked it.
Mr. Fabulous says
He was asking for money? Isn’t Canadian money basically worthless? ๐
Tricia says
Tina yeah that’s what I thought too! Paying the fee’s just to offer a credit card service is expensive. LOL
I’m pretty sure he was joking.
Tricia says
Jean-Luc I’m pretty sure that the drug dealers and prostitutes could afford the visa fees for the service so yeah … maybe some do! LOL I wouldn’t know though …. ๐
Tricia says
Claude yes I did hear about that situation in Paris. We actually had something similar happen here in Toronto a few years ago too.
Tricia says
Cool offer Chris. Is shipping free if I take you up on your offer? ๐
Tricia says
No I don’t think that’s wrong Martin.. You gave him money after all. You can’t give people everything they ask for. Plus, he might have been allergic to crayfish … giving him that delicious food might have caused him more problems.
Tricia says
Worthless!!! Hardly! Our dollars up to about 94 cents US now. There ain’t too much difference these days. I wish ours was still low … I’d be making more money when I converted all that US cash to Canadian. LOL
