Isn’t it nice when you receive cards at Christmas time, your birthday or special holidays? Some people even take the time to write a family letter during the holiday season, updating the rest of the family about all the major events that have occurred over the last year.
What’s unfortunate about this is that the occasions that I’ve listed above are about the only times that Chris or I ever receive cards or letters anymore.
My parents were winter Texans and while I missed them while they were away I always appreciated and looked forward to the weekly letters my mother would write. Sure, they had a set routine so each letter had a similar theme, but there was always some little story that made each letter unique.
I miss those letters.
I’m assuming that you don’t get as many letters as you used to either. Do you miss getting letters?
Well, if you want to give someone the feeling of getting a real letter again, but like the convenience of using your computer you could use the free service provided by http://www.esnailer.com. Just type out a letter, fill out the name and address of the person you are sending the letter to and then submit your finished letter to Esnailer.com.
Esnailer will print out your letter, place it in an envelope, put a stamp on it and mail it off to your friend or relative for you. All free of charge.
Sure, you might be saying to yourself “well I could do that myself”, but honestly, when was the last time that you did?
At least with Esnailer half the work is done by them and it’s free. Have you taken a look at the price of stamps these days? Believe me, this is a bargain!
Give it a try.

This service seems interesting, but I see there are a few bugs they need to work out. I tried to create a letter but the “Send To” address kept defaulting to a city I wasn’t living in. Maybe it was just me and my browser, who knows? But thanks for telling us about this service. Are there numerous ads after you click “send letter?”

Receiving a ‘real’ letter in the post is always such a thrill.

I love receiving letters in the mail still! And I love writing and sending them, too. I used to write letters with my grandmothers all the time, and to “pen pals” I made over the years, friends from school after I had moved, etc, etc. My boyfriend and I write letters to each other even though we talk everyday on the phone. A handwritten note always beats an email, as much as I love email. I’ll have to check out esnailer.com…thanks!

This is a real good idea. The letter I receive in the mail are only bills and each month fewer and fewer…because everything is via email even the bills. I can’t remember when I received a letter from a friend…they all email me.

Hi Tricia,
How close to my heart is the subject u wrote on! Trust me, that feeling, that thrill of receivin’ real mails and openin’ up the envelops, that suspense of what might be inside, really miss all that. Can u believe this: It’s been over 5 years since I received my last snailmail! That was from a Belgian penpal. Have still kept it safe as a relic! I wish someone could rain letter to me, paper letters, that is! I wonder, though, how that site can afford to send all those letters for free! I mean what about the postage and all? Wotever, I am sure gonna give it a shot…well, two, maybe. No, many shots…lol.
Great post Trish…luvya:-*

It wasn;t so many years ago that I took at least one evening a month and wrote cards and letters. I miss that, but for some reason it seems close to impossible to imagine getting it back into my schedule.
