I’ve been thinking about trying a voice recognition software program again. Years ago when Dragon Naturally Speaking first came out I used the program.
I used it to answer email and I even experimented with using it to write articles in word that I would then use on my websites. It worked pretty well and I’m sure the latest version probably works quite well.
It would certainly give my fingers a bit of a rest if I could use a voice program to write all the posts that I create each day!
Does anyone use Dragon Naturally Speaking? If you do, are you happy with the program? Does it work well with blog software?

I’ve heard good things about Dragon Naturally Speaking. The price is right if it can work as advertised.
I want to record stuff while I’m commuting to work, then play it back and have the voice recognition software put it into MS-Word format. I figure I could get a lot of writing done that way.
Please keep us updated if you buy/use the software.
Thanks.

The post on your other blog about comments reminded me to come back here 🙂
no… I’m no spammer.
Just a quick update on Dragon Naturally Speaking…
I bought the 9.0 version and had a heck of a time getting it working. It turns out that you need version 9.5 for it to work with Windows Vista.
Most retail outlets still carry the older 9.0 version even though 9.5 is out. You can download the patch to go from 9 to 9.5 for free on their website… but the file is 1GB in size. (took me forever to download because I won’t have reliable broadband internet for another week or so.)
So the warning is, if you use Windows Vista, be ready to download a 1GB patch or buy version 9.5 from the start.
As far as functionality… I haven’t had time to play with it much yet. I just did a quick word document and have not “trained” it to my voice or anything.
