Our elderly neighbor is becoming a little troublesome. You know she’s the one I call my stalker right? ’cause she watches everything I do – even peeking at me through the window when I’m sitting in the dining room on the computer. Uh huh.
Well, I guess with this heat wave it’s been hard on the cities electricity supply. So almost every day over this past week the power goes out for a minute or two once or twice a day. It’s a pain in the butt, especially if you have to reset any clocks.
We’ve been asking Sofie’s family to get her new clocks with batteries in them so that when the power goes out it doesn’t disturb the clock. Finally after two months of requesting this they fixed one clock. The oldest clock who’s minute button doesn’t even work half the time wasn’t replaced or fixed though.
Now the whole problem with this is that whenever the power goes out Sofie comes and bangs on our windows – not our doors, our windows usually scaring me half to death, and asks us to fix her “watch”. uh huh – you mean your clock. You should know that word by now Sofie.
The only thing is – she doesn’t ask us to fix the clock when the power goes out at nine in the morning. She waits until it’s 10 at night before she wanders over to our house in the dark! Grrrr. I wish her family would just listen to us and fix this for us and her.
On our last trip to her house we noticed that one of her light fixtures is starting to come out of the ceiling. So now she need to replace a light fixture. We are not doing that! Her family is going to finally have to do something for her.
Sofie almost might as well live with us since she’s here so often. Her family says they’ve offered to have her live with them, but she refuses. Maybe she knows she’ll be just as neglected in their home as she is by them in her own home.
Do you have a neighbor that frustrates you to no end?

We used to have a neighbour who annoyed us. He parked acrosds our driveway and ran an illegal car battery charging business.

YES! We still have our “watch dog” living next door. Though I have big hopes now since I overheard some conversion she had the other day and it SOUNDED like she might move…. I beg on my knees that she will! What an improvement it would be…
You’re now invited to our fun Friday in the Cyber Cruise, to get a taste of the madness: We’re going to an Rolling Stones concert together later tonight in the cyber cruise, as soon as RennyBA is ready to take us there.
Let’s rock this boat!!!!
Oh, and bring your lifejacket, it might be needed… *giggles*

Oh, I think you should tell her family more or less exactly what you wrote here…maybe they don’t understand the situation and the responsibility you feel put into. It is really nice and of course neighbourly of you to help her. And I think that is what neighbours do…but it sounds more serious than Sofie’s family may understand.
It may be bordering on elder abuse…And it isn’t fair for her family to “bully” her into caregiving by pressuring her to live with them. They need to show up at her house on a regular basis. That’s what families do…not neighbours.
Do I have irritating neighbours…well I’ve got Stompy McFooty upstairs and Bombing 4Peace downstairs. The woman upstairs is so time and petite it’s hard to believe she could walk so heavy footed, heavy footed in boots and stillettoes. Then I realized slowly…that she likely has OCD…because some of her walking is pattern based…so I felt a little bad at losing patience with her footsteps Now I just try to smile and it’s crossed my mind to do some “matchmaking.
Downstairs is Bombing 4Peace and he shouts out loud and swears quite liek a madman when the “enemy” wins his game on the computer. He did start to wear earphones at least after ten p.m. but now it’s even weirder when he shouts without the context of all the bombs and gun noises in the game ha ha.
I’d like to matchmake Stompy and Bombing and maybe they would fall in love and make less noise…and move into the downstairs apartment…?

Poor little woman. I really hope they start caring for her more!
I do have annoying neighbors. My next door neighbor drives me crazy because she is a cleaning freak and every day she sweeps the street and put the garbage on my end to pick up ¨because she did me a favor of sweeping my part of the street¨.
This drives me crazy and I refuse to clean it up everyday, I do have other things to do. Telling her is a no no, then my hubby would kill me I think.:) No messing with the neighbors. I do hint to her sometimes though, that I have already taken care of my part of the street. Then she picks it up. And lets not even talk about when she takes out the hose and waters the street…. *sigh*

Our next door neighbors on one side don’t take very good care of their property at all. They are renting the house. There has been a lot of activity and working over there this weekend. We are hoping that they are fixing the place up to get ready to sell it.
We’ve got our fingers crossed.

OMG! such a neighbour is always irritating..I never understood why these people can’t mind their own business
Toby Nation says
That’s rediculous! I feel for you and your neighbor. Her family should treat her better. The battery alarm is a good solution. Battery back up electric alarm clocks are an inexpensive alternative as well.
Tricia says
Toby yes we did almost everything for her – even cutting the grass at her insistence “before” her family would come for a visit. That used to tick me off .. her family should have been doing a lot more for her and they could have cut the grass on their once a week visit too. She had a stroke last winter and now lives with her youngest son … now we have to contend with “renter” neighbors!
