What’s been eating my daisies?

Rudbeckia fulgida – Goldsturm – Black Eyed Susan

What do you think has been munching on my black eyed susans? Do you see the big chunks missing out of some of the petals?

I took a number of photos of my daisies, but I decided to put this one up today, even thought it’s not as lovely the one I’ve got up on my photoblog at the moment simply to show you the damage.

I’m not too worried about a few chunks out of some petals. It’s not like my whole garden or even all the daisies have been attacked. I’m just curious as to what might have done this. I suspect it might have been a caterpillar of some sort.

I’ll have to try to catch the culprit in the act.

I have a black thumb in the garden and apparently with my blog. I deleted all the no follow links but it is still not working right. I think I will have to forget about the plan to join the no follow crew for now.
I am still using classic blogger because I tried for hours to get my blog looking right on the new system and it won’t.
    I suck LOL

Hm. Maybe a caterpillar which will become a beautiful butterfly later 🙂

BTW: Where are you, we miss you at the cyber cruise – they’re still going on! Don’t miss the fun! I’ve put the coming cruises in the end of my posts now so you can see what’s coming up later too 🙂

    I too think it’s a caterpillar.
But sometimes, in certain weather, the leaves get kind of glued to each other and when they open they break loose and have those kind of marks.

I would check to see if you have Japanese beetles. Happy GTS!

Maybe grasshoppers? Great photo, even with a few bites gone.

It’s a beautiful photo, even with a few bites missing. Good luck trying to catch the culprit. (Visiting from GTS)

I had a similar problem this year…They ate almost all of the second round of my beautiful roses. I was sick because this was the most roses the bush ever had and I loved them……

The bug was an ugly black Beatle looking thug..

Definitely the work of an insect. But no need to worry I guess, its all a part of the food cycle.

I would agree that it’s probably some sort of beetle. Hope you catch the critters. Have you used any kind of spray?

Something was hungry, all right. Don’t know what it was, however. The closet thing I’ve experienced is my cats munching on my spider plant (then throwing it up later, for heavens sake). Ah well!

    Cheers!
