I love gladiolas. They are an old fashioned flower, but so lovely in the garden. This photo is of gladiola buds. I think the flowers were fully open about a day or two later.
I rarely cut the flowers in my garden as I prefer to enjoy them by looking at them from within the house or while in in the garden, but if I were to cut some flowers gladiolas would be a good choice. Especially if they were buds that were just opening like this one. The cut gladiolas would continue to open in the vase and would last about a week.
Do you cut flowers from your garden? What’s your favorite type to bring indoors?

I like the pink of this gladiola, and I like gladiola in general, but they do come well here, I suppose they do not like the wind.
I rarely cut flowers from my garden, just like you, I prefer to watch them in the garden. However, from time to time, I take one to work, especially if rain is coming. It would ruin the flower, so I prefer to take it with me.

A beautiful pink, there, Tricia.

Beautiful shot! I don’t like to have plants I have to dig up in winter so I don’t have glads. I rarely pick any of my blooms.

Very pretty pink.
In the past when I grew sweet peas, I always had enough to look at and to bring in a bunch. I love the scent more than any other flower.

Vero ah yes someone else who doesn’t like to cut their flowers unless there’s a good reason.
LOL I remember one time I came home from work and my father in law was visiting. He’d gone into the garden and cut every single one of my roses that were blooming to make a nice vase display. Nice for the house … but nothing! in the garden??? 😉

Thank you Sara. Yes I love gladiolas. Some of the hybrids are really pretty.

Jean I guess it depends what Zone you’re in as to whether you have to dig them up or not. I’m in Zone 5b and if I winterize well (as in some extra mulch or leaves down around possibly tender plants) my gladiolas will sometimes come up again the following year. Not always though.
I’ve even had a dahlia or two come up the next season!

Thank you Captain.

Aiyana you know … I’ve never managed to get Sweet Peas to grow successfully. I keep trying, but it just doesn’t work for me.

Thanks Moe!
