As I’ve been sitting at my computer trying to get some posts done I’ve been listening to the television in the background.
They just interrupted the show that was on to tell us about a small plane crash in Richmond BC. You should see the damage! The plane is right inside the building! At this time they have no confirmed injuries, although I’d imagine that the pilot might be severely injured or even dead.
The reason why I’m writing about this though is because as I was listening to the news cast the reporter couldn’t get straight where the accident was … she’d say Richmond B.C – a suburb of Vancouver and then she said, once, Richmond Virginia.
Well what is is? She confused the heck out me! The big red banner across the bottom of the screen says “B.C. Plane Crash” so I’m assuming that it really is in Richmond.
The other reason that this newscast caught my attentions is because my brother and his family live in Vancouver and I have some friends that live in the affected suburb. I’m fairly certain that no one I know is affected, but still, when you hear of something bad happening in an area where your friends and relatives live you pay more attention, don’t you?

Yeah, when it hits close to home, you tend to pay attention more. I remember back in 1999. I was working in Atlanta and a few blocks away this guy walked into his day trader office and shot a bunch of people. We could see the helicopters outside and couldn’t leave the building!

This, and then the Cranbrook helicopter crash!? Not to mention feet showing up recently on the shores. We’re living in very strange times, eh?
