Now that we have a dog, well a puppy, our vacations might be a bit limited for a while. At least until we have Midnight trained. I mean, if we got someone to look after her while we went away for a week or two I’d want her to be house trained and hopefully a little calmer than she is right now.
BTW she’s still sick but I think she’s getting better. She’s on antibiotics for the runs that she’s been having just in case it’s a bacterial infection. The vet is running a culture and sensitivity test on her stool to determine just what might be making her so sick. She does have roundworm and that’s being treated too. I’ve been giving her water with gatorade mixed in, and her food is a little of her dried food mixed with rice and chicken broth. I’m trying my best to help her retain fluids so she’ll stay hydrated. Things are a little better than they were Friday and Saturday. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that she’ll be back to normal soon.
Anyway, once she’s over her illness and house trained I don’t see any reason why Chris and I couldn’t take a road trip with her. Maybe stay in pet friendly hotels or motels? Actually there’s
Pigeon Forge cabin rentals in TN, and they have some very nice pet friendly cabins that might be nice to stay in. I think we’ll have to make sure her chewing obsession has calmed down a bit before we can take her to such a nice place though.
Any other travel ideas for people with young dogs that must travel with them?

When I travel, which isn’t much, I have to leave Bailey at home. Boo Hoo. Actualy I have him boarded and I wlll do that again next week when I travel for Christmas. He hates me leaving him but I just can’t take him with me. Also, he gets very car sick and he won’t sit still. Being away from him occasionaly is good because I need a break from him. I’ve had him for 5 years and he follows every move I make.
Before you take him on a trip, you might get him acquainted to the traveling in the car first. My first dog travled very well. Bailey doesn’t at all.
Good Luck
