I can’t believe that my eyes still haven’t returned to normal after my allergic reaction on Wednesday night.
I certainly look a lot better than I did yesterday! However my eyelids are still a little puffy. Kind of like when you first get up in the morning puffy except mine stayed that way all day.
Hopefully the swelling will be gone tomorrow.
Maybe I’ll use a sleep wedge tonight so that I’ll sleep with my head elevated a bit. That will keep the swelling at bay!
I wish I knew exactly what triggered the reaction. I’m sure it’s got something to do with my allergy to dogs, cats and birds and probably all the pollen that’s floating around in the air. Still .. I’m kind of scared to go anywhere where there will be lots of animals again, like the pet store, as I have a feeling the reaction will be even worse the next time.
I think I’ll call my doctor on Monday morning and see if she can set up an appointment with the allergist that I saw a few years ago.
Anyone else having strange allergic reactions this spring?

My husband just had a severe reaction to honey of all things – and he had been able to eat it for years. Then one day last week – poof – he starts to swell up after snagging a spoonful from the jar. The allergist said that since he was currently reacting to local pollen (oak is bad here in Austin) that he was more sensitive to anything. A mild reaction was made worse because of this.

My eyelids started swelling back in Jan/Feb. I have no idea why and I’ve been to 3 doctors (GP, allergist, & dermatologist). We got a new black lab puppy, but we’ve always had a black lab. Although, I have been going to Pet’s Mart a lot lately, and I am allergic to dogs, so maybe it’s just too much dog dander all at once? I’m also looking into several other possibilities: cosmetics (propylene glycol), food, etc. I haven’t worn make-up for 2 months now and it’s gone down a little, but I can’t get it to go all the way down. This is really frustrating. Please let me know if you ever figure out your problem is and how to cure it. I’m willing to try just about anything right now. I’ve been eating local honey, too. Maybe I’ll cut that out of my diet for a while. I just wish I knew what it was, so I could avoid it.

After a series of allergic reactions that involved my eyes, and were anaphalactic…my allergist had me retested for what he termed were “other allergens…” in my case. my allergy was to pork…all pork…even the grease on a stove top, if I touched the top, and transferred the grease to my eye(s)…you get the point.\
Becasue of the initial itching…I thought that I was “re-sensitized “to my cat’s dander or hair,…but no….pork.
As the allergist says…I am his second patient to have an allergy to meat products.
