I just made my first ever eBay purchase! Yep, I won the bid, waited ’till the last minute to make a bid too. I bought a brand new, never been opened Wii Fit!
I’ve been thinking about getting a Wii Fit for a while. I had even joined some contests that a few bloggers did in late November, early December in an attempt to win a Wii Fit, but luck wasn’t with me.
Actually when I entered the other bloggers contests that was the first time my husband learned of my desire to get a Wii Fit. Of course he wished me luck because of course if I won one it wouldn’t have cost us a cent.
I didn’t mention Wii Fit again to my husband until yesterday when we were out shopping at Costco (that’s like Sam’s Club) and grocery shopping. He knows that I’ve been looking for a way to get more active, however, ever since I was diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency I’ve been a little worried about slipping on ice outside (in case my bones are weak), so until I find out exactly what my health status is – ie how low my vitamin D really is and if it’s affected my bones, I’m not about to start jogging outside or doing anything that might make me fall and break a bone. So safe exercise indoors is looking better and better, for now anyway.
So while we were out shopping I mentioned to him again that I’d like to get a Wii Fit and that I’d looked online at Best Buy and the Future Shop, but they were sold out (thanks to Boxing week and New Year’s sales). He was agreeable to us getting a Wii, he almost never says no to me, so we did go to Best Buy just to see if they had any in stock, but as I suspected they didn’t.
Last night I thought about looking on eBay, but I didn’t get around to it until today when my brother sent a link to some dog boots that were on sale on eBay … so of course while I was on the site I did a search for Wii Fit and I found one that was still at a decent price and the auction was about to end. By about to end I mean it only had about 3 and a half minutes left! So I had a very quick discussion with Chris and placed a bid and Ta Da! I won!
We don’t have much extra money right now, so this is a splurge that I’d better use! However I’m becoming less fit by the day so I need to start doing something to get into better shape, so I think this was a good purchase.
The eBay seller is in Canada as well so I won’t have to pay duty or any other fees when it arrives. Now I just have to sit back and see just how fast Canada Posts expedited Parcel delivery really is. I was told it would be 1 to 7 days, and considering the seller is on the East Coast I expect it will be at least two or three days before I get my Wii Fit. Surely it will be here by Friday (crossing fingers, toes, legs, arms … getting harder to type!).
So for those of you who have used Wii Fit …
- Which games are the most fun? Am I going to be happy with the Wii Fit?
- Where should I start as a beginner – Yoga? Pilates? or something else?
- Any tips for a new Wii Fit user?
- Are there any “must have” accessories that I should consider getting?
I’m certain that using the Wii Fit will drive my dog nuts for the first while. She’ll want to play when I’m trying to use it. Maybe I’ll have to keep her in her crate?
Anyway .. any tips from those who have or who have used a Wii Fit would be helpful! I’m so excited that I won my bid and can’t wait for it to get here!
Ok stupid question … do I need the Wii console to use Wii Fit? If so I’m screwed ’cause we don’t have Wii.

Have fun with your Wii! I heard they are a hoot!

Yikes … I hope you weren’t being serious.
Yes, you do need to have a Wii to use WiiFit … sorry to be the bearer of bad news 🙁

Get back on ebay… you’re definitely going to need the Wii console. The Wii Fit is basically a game for the Wii system. Im getting ready to sell mine in a few days, but my favorite activities are the balance games… And you don’t have to worry too much about where to start… there will be a few activities in each category available and you’ll unlock the more difficult ones as you go along.
YogaBlogger says
I have the wii fit also. Have you tried doing yoga on it?
Judi says
Uh oh… wii console is definitely needed!
Once you get it though, have a great time. The wii fit is on my “to purchase” list. 🙂
Ivanhoe says
It’s on my list as well. But because of the extra cost for the Wii console (sorry), I was not able to purchase it yet. When I’m ready, I’ll go with e-Bay as well.

Wii Fit is so much fun! i love the soccer games and ebay is awesome too

Yes, isn’t eBay the best? I’ve found tons of great stuff there!

I love the Wii Fit! I enjoy all of the games and the fact that once you complete a few, more will unlock. I tend to like to do a little bit of everything. I start out with a stretch or two (hint, it’s all about balance) and then do some of the aerobics. I enjoy the hoola hooping, downhill skiing and the step dance (can’t think of what Wii calls it). I like to end with the yoga as a cool down.
I also have a vitamin D deficiency and have prescription calcium and D that I take as well as supplements. Low impact, weight bearing (body as weight) exercise is excellent. This is why Wii Fit is a very good choice, it is a good mix.
Enjoy!

I WANT A WII FIT! I’ve heard such great things about it. Even people who say they’re uncoordinated, terrible at games, not into exercise, etc, etc, seem to just love it. I love ebay. I hope you’re able to get he console fairly easily.

Yeah, Wii Fit is a game that you play on the Wii … so you need to already have the console thingy. I don’t have either myself, but I too have heard so many good things about the Wii Fit that once my hubby and I are more stable financially, I WANNNNNNTTTT!!!! 😀 We both desperately need to exercise more consistently. This should help!

You do need the Wii console.. 🙁 But it’s definitely worth the money! I have both and love my Wii fit..The game that comes with it is fun – I like the hula hooping and ski jump (I’m not so good at the balance games like tight rope and river thingy..but I tend to be a bit off balanced in general. Falling up the stairs? Yep). The yoga and strength training using the board are fantastic too. It really gets you do pay attention to your form so you really feel the exercises working!

I am having the time of my life towards getting back into shape after so many years of not exercising. It has been 7 days straight that I wake up to do my yoga exercises and aerobics! I never felt better. But the first few days I was awfully sore. But it was all worth it.
You definitely need a wii console to get your wii fit to play though.

The Wii Fit is great. Lots great advice and visual stimulation for the exercise. Plus the fun games and logs of all your progress. A really fun way to do some exercise and build up your core muscle strength.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone. In fact – everyone wants to use mine!

I love my wii fit! Just got one for Christmas. My whole family loves playing soccer and hula hoop. Now that you have a balance board, I also recommend getting Wii Ski…you can use the balance board with it.

Wii Fit is great, I like it too. However, I didn’t purchase mine on eBay.

I love Wii Fit. I’ve been back using it this year even though I bought it last summer. I like the aerobics games like boxing, step class, and I even enjoy the running. The balance games are fun. I’ve just started exploring more of the yoga poses and hope to one day have the room to do some of the strength training exercises.
I haven’t bought one yet but plan to get a sleeve for the balance board as it seems to attract the dirt.

I desperately want a Wii and Wii Fit! I’ve been reading online about all the fun people are having while getting in shape and losing weight. I hope to get one soon. Like you, I’ll probably get mine on eBay.

Uh oh… I see everyone’s already let you know that you need the Wii console to use the Wii Fit…
I had started to do some research on Wii, Wii Fit, and Guitar Hero as part of my Fitness Not Fatness New Year’s Resolution, but learned from some helpful bloggers that I needed the console to get started. At least you don’t have any small children involved… when they first came out, Santa came down one of my friends’ chimneys and delivered one of the modules without the basic Wii console. Ooops!
I’ll be interested to hear what you think of the combo once you get it up and running.

Tricia-
Let us know how you like it! I can’t believe for the life of me that you somehow made it this long without buying SOMETHING on ebay…and it annoys me to think about how much money I COULD have saved over the years if I had done the same!

It seems everybody is talking about WII Fit these days. A contractor at my house today was complaining that he is two belt loops better, yet the WII Fit gives the same weight. And my 7-year old daughter was playing on WII Fit at a friend’s house a couple days ago.
It seems like WII is winning over the other platforms. Geez, I wonder how long we can resist bringing another electronic gismo in to our house.

Are you sore yet? 🙂
SO many people who get a Wii Fit overdo it in the first week. Of course, if you don’t have a Wii console, you won’t be sore because you wont’ be using your Fit yet.
I’ve got one, and I love it…it’s a hoot. My wife and I work out on it every day!

Wii is running the show at the moment, I rarely hear anyone say they are going to purchase another console, although my nephews (15 and 12) won’t as they say Wii is for old people! haha

Blimey – pre Christmas there was not a wii fit to be found at the recommended price. I hope those trying to pull a fast one get their fingers burned now they are selling them on eBay
PS3 says
I have the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. I decided to get the Wii after buying my PS3 and 360 partly just so I could say I own all three consoles :). But the Wii looked so cool, neither PS3 nor 360 could allow you to interact like the Wii. The problem is that I’m quite lazy and the Wii still hasn’t changed the fact that I’m lazy! So basically, if you are lazy and enjoy top-notch graphics then I highly recommend PS3/360, if you enjoy the outdoors and activities then go for nothing more than the Nintendo Wii! I still hope that I will start using the Wii more though – I actually got Wii Fit which ive tried out a few times. It’s an ideal system for losing weight if only you have the motivation.

EA Active is a great game that goes well with Wii fit.
