I can’t seem to get better

October 5, 2009 by Tricia

I’m still feeling awful. A few days ago I thought I was getting a little better – hey at lest that terrible pain in my right side went away but I guess was wrong.

I hate Crohn’s! I hate it. There I said it!

I won’t bore you or shock you with the details and symptoms of Crohn’s, but lets just say that I’ve spent far too much time over the last week lying down in pain or practically living in the bathroom. Hmmm … maybe I should set up my laptop in there? LOL Yeah, it’s that bad!

So … I’m going to try to keep up with my blogs, but if I go a few days without writing it’s probably just because I’m feeling crappy and need to just rest in order to feel a little better.

One good thing is that I saw my specialist today and he upped my Crohn’s meds … so maybe that will give my inflamed bowels a kick and make them a little better.

You poor thing. My friend has been battling Crohn’s for years and I hate it when it flares up on her. Good luck and feel better.

Tricia- I found this link on my favorite coupon site and thought maybe you could use this
    Crohn’s Cookbook free @ http://www.crohnsonline.com /register
This is through Abbott. Hope you get relief soon!

    Thanks for your replies everyone.

Sheila I’ll check out that cookbook … so far I’ve found that eating foods that 1. are fairly natural with few to no additives works best and 2. not eating certain foods (corn, nuts or most raw veggies) helps.

I am feeling a little better but I still could feel a LOT better. Here’s hoping that I’ll be more functional in the next few day! LOL

Tricia- Let me know if the cookbook is helpful. Also, have you had recent lab and a test for C. diff? Do an internet search on C- diff for information. Symptoms can present as just a flare up and can be a different cause. My mom came down with this after an antibiotic regimen. Some of my internet research info made me think of your situation. Hope you feel better and I hope this is helpful.

Sheila – I haven’t tried any of thing in the cookbook yet as it’s Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada … but I hope to start tomorrow. With any luck it will help a bit!

Yes I have been tested for C.diff, probably at least once a year. I haven’t been tested recently but my symptoms aren’t quite the same as with C.diff. I’m very familiar with C.diff as I’m an ER Nurse and I’ve dealt with outbreaks in the hospital, it’s symptoms and uh .. having to clean up and help people with it. Ugh! C.diff is the last thing I need! LOL

Good idea though. I appreciate your thoughts and your help! Thanks.

Tricia- I was going through my files and came across a free service of Fry’s food stores. I wrote it down thinking “someday I’ll need this”. I am not sure if you have Fry’s stores in Canada but here is the number for a free dietician service. Maybe a dietician would have suggestions for crohns and reflux issues. 1-866-632-6900, M-F 8a.m.-5p.m. Good luck.
