So my niece is getting married in just over a month. Argh!
I found a nice dress in my closet that I’m planning on wearing but if I could manage to lose 5 to 10 lb before the wedding the dress will look great. If not .. well it will look ok, but I’d rather that it look great.
So .. I’m thinking about going on a mini weight loss diet for the next month.
We already eat fairly healthily.
I mean, I’ve got Crohn’s disease and a lot of foods make me feel worse, so my diet is limited anyway … but still, we get in a lot of fresh vegetables and fruit, low fat meats like chicken and turkey and if and when we eat red meats (only once or twice a month really) I try to buy lean meats like extra lean hamburger or I cut off the excess fat before I cook the meat (ie such as the fat around the edges of a steak).
I usually don’t snack between meals either … so I’m not sure what I can cut in my diet to lose a few pounds, but I’m sure I’ll find something. I can’t really even cut down on portion sizes because we already eat fairly small portions … ie one single boneless chicken breast between the two of us and a cup of steamed carrots, broccoli and cauliflower each is one of our main standby meals.
I do have one Coca Cola pretty much each evening, so I guess I could just drink water instead. That would cut a few calories each day.
I think the main thing that I’ll need to do over the next month is get more active. I’m already walking the dog daily, but if I increase the length of our walks and or take her out two or three times a day that will help.
Do you have any ideas as to how I could lose 5 pounds over the next month – when I’m already on a healthy diet that has a little less than my required total calories for my height and weight?

I know its hard but you must give up the Coke. It is a chemical thing that is why they have a secret recipe and dominate the soda world. High fructose corn syrup is absolute poison. Here is a professor and head of an obesity clinic explaining how terrible it is – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBnniua6-oM

Gorillas – drinking one coke a day is pretty much my only truly bad habit as far as diet goes. As I said above we eat steamed veggies (carrots, broccoli, cauliflower) and baked or grilled boneless, skinless chicken breasts for most of our dinners. I have a very limited diet because of my Crohn’s disease and my meals have to be on the small side because big meals (even those with foods I can eat) can cause pain and other problems.
I know Coke if full of sugar. That’s one reason why I mentioned that I might drop my one coke a day habit in order to lose the 5 lb that I need to lose in the next month. There’s no need for it to have as much fructose in it as it does! It’s terrible. I’m glad that I don’t drink more of the stuff! My ex-sister in law used to drink a big 2 L bottle a day! Interesting video BTW.
I’d drink diet soft drinks if 1. I didn’t absolutely hate the taste of them and 2. if they didn’t use artificial sweeteners like Aspartame and other chemical based sweeteners. I think those are worse than the high fructose in normal soft drinks – worse for me with my delicate system anyway.
Thanks for your comment!

The only thing that really worked for me was low carb. No sugar or flour. No bread, pasta, rice, potatoes or carrots. Green veggies and meat. You could do it for a few weeks – but cutting the Coke out just might be enough by itself. My sis had a friend that lost 40 lb using Wii Active.

There is no one size fits all with dropping pounds. If you weigh 300 pounds you can much easier drop 5 pounds than someone who weighs 140. It’s all relative. The bottom line is that no matter what you weigh you probably have a plan to lose your weight as fast as possible.

The most important thing to lose weight is consistant. If you do exercise for 10 days without give up. You will find you really want to do exercise in the following days!

Losing 5-10 pounds a month is very doable. I would suggest cutting out breads and caloric beverages. Doing that alone would probably cut at least 5.
