I’m still suffering from that hungry feeling that I talked about yesterday. It seems that I’m hungry within only an hour or two of eating a meal.
I don’t know what’s going on … am I really hungry or do I just have acid in my stomach that’s causing hunger pains like feelings? I think it’s hunger, but I do suffer from acid reflux so I suppose it could be acid too .. I have been taking my antacid medicine (Zantac and when it’s bad Pariet), but it doesn’t help the hunger feeling.
Last night when we finally ate dinner I felt a bit better, but that “hunger” feeling didn’t go away until about 11 pm. Actually it never totally went away … it was still there at 11 pm, but it was the most tolerable that it’d been all day.
Today I didn’t feel as hungry as I did yesterday … but I’m getting there now. I was busy all day and I’d planned to make home made Spaghetti and meat sauce (no the spaghetti isn’t home made, the meat sauce sort of is), but I started late. It will be done within half an hour. Hopefully it will help!
I don’t think I’ve been eating foods that burn fat or anything like that … I just think my metabolism has jumped into high gear this week.
For those of you with GERD or acid reflux … do you ever get hunger pains that just won’t go away?

Yes, I have that exact problem, I have acid reflux, usually, if I eat a handful of peanuts, (unsalted) this usually solves the problem.

I also had the exact problem some days earlier I was so much disturbed what to do! But thanks to my doctor he gave me some medicine which helped me in recovering.

Hi there Tricia!
I suggest you to eat whenever you feel like eating but be sure to eat in small portions. Avoid skipping meals for a long time to prevent the build up of acid on your stomach.

I agree to the last poster before me. Eating when you’re hungry and in small portions is the best way. If you think about it, they’re almost the same with eating in bulk except that you can avoid heartburn and some other not so nice stuff this way.

I usually feel the exact opposite when I suffer heartburn and acid reflux, that is bloated and no hunger feelings at all. It could be that the medications you are taking are leading to too little acid in the stomach and your food not being properly digested, that would account for the hunger pains as your body is not getting full nutrition from your food. Lack of acid in the stomach is one of the major causes of heartburn – I know it sounds contradictory.
You could try the old favourite remedy of apple cider vinegar to top up your acids. I suggest you dilute a dessertspoon of the vinegar in half a glass of water and plenty of natural honey

Please consider the option that you may be gluten intolerant. I was hungry all the time even when I had just eaten and it turned out I was gluten intolerant and because my stomach reacted badly to the gluten it didn’t absorb the proper nutrients that I needed, hence the hunger feeling all the time.
Since going over to gluten free I no longer feel hungry, don’t have to eat all the time and actually feel full after a meal. Food is no longer an issue. Please try it for at least two weeks – the difference will be immediate is you are gluten intolerant.
All the best.

I have to agree 100%! I had the exact same issue and went from 160lbs down to 118lbs and was passing out left and right. I wasn’t absorbing the proper nutrition due to celiac disease. Once I began a gluten-free diet I gained the weight back and made a full recovery. Now, any time I eat something with gluten I get horrifically sick for a following few days. Gluten intolerance is nothing to take lightly! It can eventually lead to the need for intestinal surgery (as which happened to my aunt), failure of motor skills and even death if not treated with a proper diet!
