I’m not feeling well today. I’ve had a headache all day and it’s getting worse. Even more troubling is that along with the headache I can barely see from my right eye!
Yep .. I’m having those nasty aural migraine symptoms again. I’ve had migraines since I was about 12 years old .. thankfully though they seemed to stop when I was 25, but they’ve come back in the last few years and now, since July, I’ve been having these optical or aural migraines.
Usually when I have eye symptoms I don’t have an actual headache …. not pain wise anyway … the migraine sometimes comes later. The vision problems in the last few months have usually only lasted for fifteen to thirty minutes – but today the vision problems have lasted all day and there’s no sign of them going away.
It’s almost like I have a translucent object in the center of my right eyes vision. I can see through it but it makes all my vision blurry. Kind of like those pop up ads that say “click here” on some websites that come up just as you’re trying to read something. LOL
I’m seeing a doctor on Friday at the hospital about the numbness and odd occasional burning sensations in my lower left thigh (started in December) to see if it’s coming from a nerve in my back or my hip. I think the doctors a neurologist and if he is I think I might try to talk to him about these aural migraines while I’m there.
Hopefully these vision problems really are just aural headaches but it’s troubling when you start getting new symptoms. I’d certainly be happy if the doctor I see on Friday suggests I get a CatScan or MRI.

Yup. Migrane problem is the worst i have seen, a big headache problem to handle. I have a frend who also suffered from migraine, and as the day goes on, in the evening the pain is severe and he is not able to tackle it. He took every treatment for it but, no sure success for him.

I never liked migraines as well. Used to have them when I was a teenager. However, my doctor said that migraines are for the younger ones. If you’re over 30, it could be something else, like a neural problem. I’m not scaring you but have you checked your migraine recently?

This is probably one of the worse pains you get, my migrains really make me feel sick and ill sometimes though only way I cure mine is by sleeping it off and plenty of water

My grandfather has aural migraine since he was 16 year old. Sometime around the 70’s he spent more than 6 months in hospitals while everybody believed that he would die. While nowadays, he’s feeling better… it’s still taking a toll on him. And his stubbornness to turn to doctors, makes me sad.

I have migraines too. I’ve tried prescription pain killers but they make me feel groggy. Has anyone found a natural way to ease the migraine pain?

Ugh I hate migraine’s I feel like my eyes are crossing when i have one and it seems like it never goes away.
I feel better when i turn out the lights and lay down with a cold compress across my eyes and then i try and clear my mind of everything that has been bugging me for the last few weeks.
This is how i do that, I once had a hypnotic tape that taught me how to relax so i will walk you through it.
try and lay on your back and think of a beautiful place where your alone like a beach or in a field or anywhere you want to be but just think of yourself all alone and the day is very sunny. Now think how warm the sun feels against your skin.
Next think that the sun rays are turning into a golden orange liquid and it starts to enter your body through your finger tips. Now imagine how warm and good this feels entering your body and as it does think about this warm sunny liquid cleansing your body from the inside out. You feel this warn liquid going in your fingers and up your arm and into your head then down your body and out your toes and removing all your stress as it leaves your body.
That may help lol

Ironically, I am experiencing an aural headache at the moment, which is how I ended up at this particular page/site.
My Aural Headaches started in my late 30’s and thankfully, don’t occur very often as they are extremely annoying, not to mention the terror of my own imagination once I start experiencing one. The terror itself isn’t quite as bad now having survived that all-important first one, but regardless, it’s still one of those events that freak me out each and every time it happens.
I’m wondering Tricia, did you happen to talk to the neurologist or anyone else about these Aural Headaches (without the headache)?
I’m quite curious about them myself and would be interested in any additional information you may have in regards to them.
